Role Summary
The HR Business Partner owns the overall health, administration, and alignment of our people operations. Sitting at the intersection of business strategy and employee experience, this role executes day-to-day HR function, handles employee relations with discretion, and ensures our team members are set up for long-term success.
Key Accountabilities (Your 5 Seats)
In accordance with our EOS Accountability Chart, this role owns 100% of the outcomes for the following key seats:
1. HR Business Partnership
- Partner closely with leadership to align HR practices with organizational goals and quarterly Rocks.
- Provide strategic guidance to leaders on workforce planning, engagement, and team development.
- Support organizational change initiatives, helping leaders manage transitions thoughtfully.
2. Recruitment
- Own the end-to-end recruitment process: job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and offer preparation.
- Partner with hiring managers to define seat responsibilities and identify right-fit talent.
- Facilitate a seamless, high-touch onboarding experience for all new hires to drive early engagement and retention.
3. Payroll & Benefits
- Oversee day-to-day benefits administration, enrollment, and employee inquiries.
- Collaborate with accounting/payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Maintain complete, audit-ready employee files and records.
4. Workplace Operations
- Manage day-to-day HR operations and administrative processes.
- Facilitate offboarding processes with professionalism, care, and thorough documentation.
- Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive in-office culture in Nanaimo.
5. Employee Relations & Policy Adherence
- Serve as a trusted, approachable point of contact for employee questions, conflicts, and concerns.
- Maintain and update HR policies to ensure compliance with BC employment standards and regulations.
- Provide clear guidance to ensure consistent and fair application of company policies across all teams.
Qualifications & Profile (GWC™)

- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a generalist HR role or HR Business Partner capacity.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of BC Employment Standards, core HR practices, payroll, and benefits execution.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong emotional intelligence and discretion.
- Approach: Calm, structured, and dependable with a high degree of integrity and problem-solving capability.
- EOS Experience: Familiarity with EOS or structured operational frameworks is a strong asset.
