About Big Viking Games

Big Viking Games is a Canadian gaming company focused on building, operating, and growing long-standing online game communities. Our games have entertained players for years, supported by loyal audiences, live operations, evolving content systems, product innovation, and a deep understanding of player behavior.

Our live-service games have served millions of players over their lifetime. These are enduring social game experiences with loyal communities, meaningful live revenue, rich in-game economies, virtual goods, player-to-player interaction, and long-term engagement at their core.

We are entering a new phase of modernization and growth, with a focus on stronger product discipline, better data visibility, smarter live operations, practical AI adoption, and scalable systems that help our games and teams perform at a higher level.

About the Role

Big Viking Games is hiring a Lead Product Manager, Live Games to help shape the next stage of growth for one of our long-running social games.

This is a high-impact product leadership role for someone who understands live games, player behavior, monetization, experimentation, content performance, game economies, and durable product systems.

You will work closely with leadership, design, engineering, data, art, production, and live operations to improve the current player experience while helping define the game’s future across platforms.

The right person brings strong product judgment, hands-on execution, commercial thinking, and the ability to turn ambiguity into clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and shipped improvements.

This is not a maintenance role. It is a role for someone who wants ownership of a live product with real players, real revenue, and real opportunity.

The Opportunity

This game has a strong legacy, an active audience, and significant room for growth.

We are looking for a product leader who can identify the biggest opportunities, make clear tradeoffs, and turn product strategy into measurable results.

You will help modernize how the game operates, improve the player experience, strengthen monetization systems, and guide the roadmap for both the current live game and future expansion opportunities.

The challenge is to build a smarter, more data-informed, more scalable version of the game while respecting the community and product foundations that already exist.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap, with a focus on growth, retention, monetization, player satisfaction, and long-term product health.
  • Partner with leadership to define clear goals, priorities, success metrics, and product tradeoffs.
  • Analyze player behavior, economy health, feature performance, content performance, live operations, and business trends to identify high-impact opportunities.
  • Lead experimentation across offers, events, live operations, onboarding, engagement loops, pricing, bundles, and monetization systems.
  • Work closely with design, engineering, art, live operations, production, and data to ship improvements quickly, measure performance, and learn from results.
  • Help evolve the game into a stronger multi-platform product while preserving what existing players value most.
  • Use AI and automation thoughtfully to improve workflows, accelerate analysis, reduce manual effort, and help the team move faster.
  • Translate player feedback, community signals, market awareness, and data into practical product decisions.
  • Build repeatable product processes that improve planning, prioritization, execution, measurement, and post-launch learning.
  • Bring structure, clarity, and accountability to roadmap planning, feature evaluation, live operations planning, and product decision-making.
  • Partner with data and analytics to define the right metrics, dashboards, experiments, and reporting needed to manage the game properly.
  • Partner with finance and leadership to understand product performance, revenue risk, monetization opportunities, and return on product investment.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • 6+ years of product management, game product management, product strategy, monetization, growth, or live-service product experience.
  • Experience owning or materially influencing a live game, social game, free-to-play product, consumer product, or digital product with meaningful recurring engagement.
  • Strong product judgment and a clear point of view on what creates player value, business value, and long-term product health.
  • Experience using data to guide product and business decisions.
  • Experience running or partnering on A/B tests, feature experiments, live operations tests, pricing tests, offer tests, or engagement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of game economies, virtual currencies, pricing, bundles, offers, events, engagement loops, and monetization systems.
  • Ability to balance player experience, product quality, revenue performance, and long-term game health.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership across design, engineering, art, production, live operations, data, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business problems into clear product plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills with executives, stakeholders, and execution teams.
  • Experience building operating rhythms, roadmap discipline, prioritization systems, and repeatable product processes.
  • Comfort using AI, automation, or modern tools to improve productivity, analysis, workflow speed, and decision-making.
  • High ownership, strong follow-through, and the ability to operate without needing heavy structure around you.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on social games, casual games, virtual worlds, free-to-play games, or long-running live-service products.
  • Experience with mature or legacy games where growth requires both modernization and respect for the existing player base.
  • Experience with player segmentation, cohort analysis, retention curves, economy balancing, content calendars, offer testing, and live event performance.
  • Experience with analytics, BI tools, SQL, dashboards, product telemetry, or data teams.
  • Experience helping a product evolve across web, mobile, or multi-platform environments.
  • Experience working with player communities, community teams, player support, VIP programs, or direct player feedback loops.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve research, planning, analysis, documentation, experimentation, or product operations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a live-game product leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

They understand that a live game is not managed through opinion alone. It requires data, judgment, experimentation, player empathy, product taste, commercial awareness, and operational discipline.

They can look at a game with an established audience and see both what must be protected and what must change. They can identify where the biggest opportunities are, where the risks sit, and where the team should focus first.

They are comfortable making tradeoffs. They can explain why one feature, event, offer, or platform priority matters more than another. They know how to work with data without becoming trapped by it, and they know how to respect player feedback without letting anecdotes replace judgment.

They bring structure without slowing the team down.

This role is best suited for someone who wants real ownership, visibility, and the ability to make measurable impact on a live product with loyal players and meaningful revenue.

Benefits

Compensation

The expected compensation range for this role is CAD $140,000 to $170,000, depending on experience, live-service background, product ownership, monetization experience, technical fluency, and overall fit.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • HSA/WSA spending account from day one.
  • Participation in the Employee Stock Option Plan.
  • RRSP participation and matching.
  • 15 vacation days.
  • 10 wellness days.
  • Opportunity to work on long-running live-service games with established player communities.
  • High-impact product ownership with direct exposure to leadership, data, monetization, live operations, and game modernization.
