Job description
We are seeking a highly accomplished Information Security / Cybersecurity Project Manager for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in North Yor. In this role, you will take on a premier project leadership capacity within information security, identity and access management, cloud security, and technology risk streams, specializing in planning, executing, and transitioning critical security initiatives into operations.

As a principal project manager, you will bridge the gap between project management office (PMO) delivery standards, cybersecurity leadership priorities, and cross-functional technology teams. Operating within a hybrid work model, you will lead complex projects spanning multi-factor authentication, privileged access management, vulnerability remediation, network access control, and infrastructure resiliency. This position demands a seasoned, PMP-certified leader who can maintain rigorous project governance, manage vendor deliverables, enforce risk management controls, and deliver clear, evidence-based executive updates.

Location: North York, ON

Assignment Type: Hybrid (1 day per week mandatory onsite)

Contract Duration: Up to 1-year initial term (with two optional 6-month extension terms)

Advantages
High-Impact Cybersecurity Scope: Lead strategic initiatives across Identity & Access Management (IAM), MFA, PAM, vulnerability remediation, cloud security, and zero-trust frameworks.

Dual Governance Leadership: Collaborate directly with PMO leadership and Information Security directors to drive high-visibility risk reduction projects.

Comprehensive End-to-End Ownership: Direct full-lifecycle project delivery—from initial scoping and vendor management through to security testing, cutover, and operational handover.

Flexible Working Arrangement: Enjoy a balanced work model combining onsite collaboration in North Yor with remote flexibility.

Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end delivery of complex cybersecurity initiatives, including IAM, MFA, PAM, vulnerability remediation, endpoint/server security, network access controls, cloud security, and backup/disaster recovery resilience.

Translate strategic security priorities into actionable integrated project plans, defining scope baselines, work breakdown structures, resource allocations, and measurable success criteria.

Establish and maintain strong PMO project governance artifacts, including charters, schedules, RAID logs, decision registers, change requests, status reports, and closure packages.

Coordinate cross-functional teams, working groups, technical design sessions, vendor review meetings, and steering committee briefings.

Partner with technical, infrastructure, service desk, privacy, and third-party vendor teams to address dependencies and streamline operational transitions.

Oversee vendor deliverables, statements of work (SOWs), contract milestones, acceptance criteria, and financial forecasting to guarantee value-for-money delivery.

Conduct security testing coordination, change readiness evaluations, implementation planning, communications, user training, and post-implementation stabilization.

Maintain complete, traceable project records and evidence supporting security controls, audit readiness, risk treatment decisions, and benefits realization.

Identify, track, and escalate material project risks, technical blockers, funding issues, and scope changes to leadership in a timely, evidence-based manner.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Mandatory Criteria
Education: Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Business Technology Management, Project Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Project Management Tenure: Minimum 10 years of related experience managing complex IT projects, with at least 5 years specifically managing cybersecurity, information security, network, infrastructure, cloud, or technology risk projects.

Mandatory Certification: Active Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, or equivalent formal project management certification.

Cybersecurity Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including risk management, IAM, vulnerability remediation, network/cloud security, endpoint protection, incident response, change control, and operational readiness.

Governance & Reporting Mastery: Proven capability to produce executive status reports, RAID logs, project charters, decision requests, and steering committee presentations.

Tools & Methodologies: Proficiency with MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint, paired with experience applying Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid, and SDLC methodologies.

Security Clearance: Level 1 Criminal Record Check clearance certificate.

Preferred Assets & Certifications
Advanced Technical Exposure: Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, cloud security (SaaS/PaaS), SIEM, EDR, DLP, firewall modernization, and network segmentation.

Frameworks & Industry Standards: Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, COBIT, ITIL, Privacy-by-Design, and IT risk management practices.

Professional Security Certifications: Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, Security+, ITIL, or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) are considered strong assets.

Public Sector / Regulated Experience: Prior experience delivering projects within public sector, housing, municipal, unionized, or audit-sensitive environments.
