Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Lead RBC's mission-critical datacenter network and security operations, directly supporting 100,000+ users across essential financial services platforms globally. In this strategic leadership role, you'll drive operational excellence and modernization by overseeing 24/7 infrastructure management, leading major incident response during high-stakes events, and championing Site Reliability Engineering transformation and automation initiatives. You'll build and mentor high-performing technical teams while balancing immediate operational stability with long-term technology innovation to reduce manual work and accelerate response times.

What will you do?

  • Lead day-to-day operations of datacenter network and security infrastructure across enterprise and colocation sites globally, ensuring high availability and adherence to service level agreements
  • Champion technology modernization and automation initiatives by driving adoption of Site Reliability Engineering practices, infrastructure automation platforms, orchestration tools, and AI-assisted operations to transform from reactive to proactive operations
  • Develop and execute multi-year operational strategies aligned with modernization priorities, automation adoption, and emerging technologies including AI-assisted operations and predictive analytics
  • Direct critical incident management, including root cause analysis, stakeholder escalation, and communication for infrastructure events affecting trading, payments, and core banking services
  • Manage three senior managers across SD-WAN networking, security operations, and application delivery/VPN, providing coaching, performance development, and succession planning to build team capability
  • Establish operational standards, change governance, and risk mitigation procedures; drive continuous improvement through chronic issue resolution and automation of alerting and monitoring
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, cloud operations, business technology, and security teams to ensure smooth integration of new platforms, migrations, and technology updates

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 10+ years of enterprise network and security operations experience, with 5+ years leading technical teams
  • Proven track record driving technology modernization and automation initiatives, including experience with infrastructure automation, orchestration platforms, or emerging operational technologies such as AI-assisted operations and predictive analytics
  • Deep technical expertise in enterprise routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VRRP), firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Fortinet), load balancers (F5), or remote access and VPN technologies
  • Strong Site Reliability Engineering foundation and mindset—understanding runbooks, automation, observability, and metrics-driven operations as core operational principles
  • Proven experience managing 15+ person technical operations teams with accountability for service level agreements, metrics, and business deliverables
  • Strong incident management background: leading major incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and communicating effectively during high-pressure situations with ability to balance immediate operational needs and long-term transformation goals

Nice-to-have

  • CCNP, CISSP, or other relevant network and security certifications
  • Hands-on experience with orchestration platforms, AI agents, or intelligent alerting systems
  • Background leading cross-functional digital transformation or infrastructure modernization programs

What's in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference in our communities, and achieving mutual success.

  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits
  • Executive leaders committed to your professional development and career advancement opportunities
  • Opportunity to shape infrastructure strategy and drive meaningful technological innovation across a mission-critical function serving millions of customers
  • Work with a dynamic, high-performing team in a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and emerging technologies
  • Ability to make a lasting impact on critical financial services platforms supporting hundreds of thousands of users globally
