Job Summary:
The Senior DevOPS/Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and supporting cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines to deploy and maintain modular cloud-based systems. This role involves working with leading cloud platforms, containerization technologies, and automation tools to ensure high availability, security, and performance of applications. The engineer will collaborate within a team and independently to develop solutions that meet business needs in a complex Linux environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess frameworks, platforms, and technology stacks to create cloud-based solutions.
- Design, build, and support cloud environments for digital product deployment.
- Develop and administer CI/CD pipelines for continuous development and deployment.
- Monitor and assess application performance in cloud environments to ensure availability.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and deployment issues.
- Create, test, and implement safeguards to maintain data integrity and security.
- Prepare execution plans, testing scripts, and technical design documents.
- Build and execute technical solutions and scripts, analyze results, and report findings.
- Track problems, defects, and issues within large projects.
- Create knowledgebase articles documenting procedures and solutions.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- University or college degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with leading cloud platforms such as AWS or OpenShift.
- Strong knowledge of Linux cloud environments (CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Bash, Java, JavaScript, Node.js.
- Experience with build and automation tools like Git, Ansible, CloudFormation, ytt.
- Expertise in containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Certification in Software Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with systems integration using Linux shell scripting.
- Experience in application lifecycle testing including unit, functional, integration, system, regression, penetration, performance, and user acceptance testing.
- Public sector experience.
- Knowledge of API integration and security best practices.
Special Considerations:
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong problem tracking and defect resolution skills within large projects.
- Ability to prepare detailed technical documentation and reports.
Scheduling:
- Work schedule includes 3 days onsite presence.
