About Us

The Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI), powered by Baycrest, is at the forefront of driving innovation in aging and brain health. Guided by our vision of a world where every older person lives with purpose, fulfilment, and dignity, we work to drive the development and adoption of transformative aging and brain health innovations.

We accelerate innovation adoption by connecting innovators with those who will benefit most from their solutions: older persons, caregivers, clinicians, and system partners. To date, we have supported over 500 solutions that help older persons, including those impacted by dementia, live healthier, more meaningful lives. At CABHI, we are building a future where aging is shaped by lived experience, powered by innovation, and driven by system-wide collaboration.

  • Support strategic stakeholder relations with current and potential funders and ecosystem partners, and support business development activities as needed (e.g. prospecting, outreach, invitations, presentations, backgrounders and briefing notes).
  • Own and maintain key communications materials, including key messaging documents, slide decks and presentation materials, style guides, supporting research and data, and issues backgrounders.
  • Collect and report on key identified data metrics, including media mentions and sentiment, share of voice, optics indicators, website analytics, social media analytics, and other digital and traditional media metrics to assess performance of strategic communications initiatives.
  • Manage and oversee direct reports within the Communications team of the MarComm business unit, including resource allocation and performance management.
  • Write and disseminate high-quality communications in a variety of digital and traditional formats, including annual reports, letters of support, management and funder reports, grant applications, speaking points, presentations, video scripts, briefing documents, website content, articles, newsletters, pitches, and social media posts.
  • Represent the Communications team in cross-functional collaboration and build relationships within both CABHI and Baycrest, and with external stakeholders, acting as a key point of contact to facilitate the design and dissemination of strategic communications activities.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) to (7) years of experience in strategic communications, including public relations, issues management, media relations and government relations.
  • Government relations experience an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of digital communications tools, including analytics, social media platforms, MailChimp, website CMS, SEO, CRM, project management tools (e.g. Asana), Canva, etc.
  • Experience managing direct reports, including mentoring and performance management.
