Job description
Randstad is searching for a highly skilled Quality Control Inspector to join a premier manufacturing operation in the Edmonton area. This senior-level hands-on position works closely with the QA/QC Manager and Production Supervisors to perform critical quality inspections, lead team efforts, and drive continuous improvement across quality and HSE standards.

Responsibilities
Inspection & Quality Assurance: Perform hands-on quality inspections using advanced Inspection, Measuring, and Testing Equipment (IMTE). Read and interpret engineering prints, drawings, and schematics.
Standards & Compliance: Ensure all QC activities meet strict work order standards, drawing specifications, and internal Quality & HSE management system requirements.
Team Leadership & Workflow: Direct daily QC department tasks to align with production schedules. Help organize, lead, train, and develop new quality personnel.
Contract & Process Review: Perform QC-related reviews during the contract review phase for upcoming work. Recommend standards and process improvements to maximize cost savings and efficiency.
Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete inspection documentation, perform data entry, and track time on work orders. Complete administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
Safety Champion: Actively participate in site HSE programs (observations, STOP interventions, audits, and incident reporting). Exercise stop-work authority immediately if defects or malfunctions arise.


Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of Quality Control experience in a similar manufacturing or industrial environment.
Industry Standards: General understanding of API 7-1, API 7-2, and DS-1 requirements.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in precision inspection techniques and strategies.
Advanced capability with IMTE tools and reading technical schematics/blueprints.
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Leadership & Problem-Solving:
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex process issues and mentor team members.
Demonstrated skill in leading teams and directing workflow.
Ability to assist in interviewing and onboarding prospective team members.
Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work unsupervised across varying shift patterns.

Working Environment & Conditions
Setting: Dynamic shop floor environment requiring high safety awareness and adherence to site rules/PPE requirements.
Physical Demands: Standard shop floor physical requirements including frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and handling materials.
Interpersonal Interaction: Regular daily interaction with production leads, internal department managers, and occasional interface with external client inspectors.
