Position Overview

Q Wealth Asset Management is seeking a Director or Associate Director, Systematic Investment Strategies to play a key role in expanding the firm's systematic investment capabilities and helping build a leading suite of rules-based and factor-based investment solutions.

Working alongside the Deputy Chief Investment Officer, the CIO office and the investment team, the successful candidate will help refine existing systematic investment strategies while developing new enhanced index, factor-based, and rules-based solutions for the firm's growing advisor network. Leveraging Bloomberg's BQuant (BQNT) platform, together with other quantitative research and analytical tools, the successful candidate will research, test, and implement innovative investment strategies, portfolio construction methodologies, and portfolio implementation processes.

The successful candidate may come from portfolio management, quantitative research, systematic or factor-based investing, ETF/index research, or other investment research disciplines, with demonstrated experience developing systematic, rules-based investment models and translating research into practical evidence-based investment solutions.

This role combines systematic investment research, portfolio construction, portfolio implementation, product development, and thought leadership, offering a unique opportunity to help build one of Canada's premier asset managers while making a meaningful impact on the firm's long-term investment platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Deputy Chief Investment Officer to develop and enhance the firm's systematic and factor-based investment platform.
• Help build and manage a leading suite of systematic (rules-based) pooled funds, including enhanced index and factor-based investment strategies.
• Research, design, test, and implement systematic investment strategies using Bloomberg BQuant (BQNT) and other quantitative research and analytical tools.
• Develop portfolio construction methodologies, screening frameworks, and rules-based investment processes.
• Generate and maintain portfolio trade lists, rebalance files, and portfolio implementation reports to support the efficient execution of factor-based and systematic investment strategies.
• Conduct quantitative research on factor investing, enhanced indexing, portfolio optimization, and systematic investment strategies.
• Perform ongoing portfolio monitoring, risk analysis, performance attribution, and factor analysis.
• Produce investment research, whitepapers, and educational content that communicate the investment philosophy, portfolio construction process, and practical application of the firm's strategies.
• Develop fund collateral, presentations, and supporting materials for advisors, partners, and clients.
• Collaborate with portfolio management, distribution, and marketing teams to support new product development and fund launches.
• Monitor academic research, industry developments, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for continued innovation.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5–10 years of experience within the investment management industry, preferably with an asset manager, institutional investor, ETF/index provider, or quantitative investment team.
• Title will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capabilities.
• Strong understanding of capital markets, portfolio construction, systematic investing, and factor-based investing.
• Experience conducting investment research using large financial datasets.
• Experience leveraging Bloomberg BQuant (BQNT) for investment research and strategy development is an asset.
• Experience with Python is required, SQL, or similar analytical and programming tools is considered an asset.
• Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and writing skills.

Education & Professional Qualifications

• CFA charterholder (or candidate) or a Master's degree in Finance or a related discipline.
• Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
