Join the Oliver & Bonacini team as a Pastry Cook – Events, where your creativity, attention to detail, and passion for pastry will help create exceptional culinary experiences for our guests. Working alongside our Culinary and Events Teams, you will be responsible for preparing and executing high-quality pastry items for events while ensuring all creations meet O&B standards for taste, presentation, and consistency. You will play an important role in supporting pastry operations, preparing desserts and baked goods, maintaining an organized and efficient workspace, and ensuring smooth production and service throughout each event. We are looking for a passionate pastry professional who is reliable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while taking pride in delivering memorable pastry experiences and supporting successful event operations.

The day to day:

  • Assist with pastry kitchen setup, including preparing stations, organizing ingredients, and ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready for production and service.
  • Prepare a variety of pastry items, including desserts, baked goods, plated desserts, and other pastry creations according to O&B standards and event requirements.
  • Support the pastry team during event preparation and service by maintaining efficiency, organization, and strong communication.
  • Execute pastry production with attention to detail, including proper measurements, techniques, presentation, and consistency.
  • Assist with plating and finishing desserts for events, ensuring all items are presented professionally and meet quality expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked pastry workstation throughout preparation and service.
  • Monitor pastry quality, freshness, appearance, and consistency while communicating any concerns or adjustments to culinary leadership.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, storing, and properly handling pastry ingredients and supplies according to food safety standards.
  • Support inventory management by maintaining proper product organization, minimizing waste, and communicating ingredient or supply needs.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and Health & Safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Support and guide junior pastry team members by sharing knowledge, providing direction, and leading by example.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary, Front of House, and Events Teams to ensure smooth execution of each event.
  • Assist with pastry kitchen breakdown, cleaning, and organization following events to ensure the workspace is prepared for future operations.
  • Adapt to changing event requirements and support additional pastry or operational needs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a professional pastry kitchen, bakery, hotel, restaurant, or high-volume culinary environment, with previous pastry cook experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in event catering, banquet pastry production, or large-scale dessert preparation is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, dessert preparation, and production processes with the ability to execute a variety of pastry items to a high standard.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned pastry tasks and stations while contributing effectively to the success of the culinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, consistency, presentation, and precision in pastry execution.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately, including proper measurements, techniques, and preparation methods.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and remain organized in a fast-paced event production environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with pastry, culinary, Front of House, and Events teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, troubleshoot challenges, and adapt quickly to changing event requirements.
  • Ability to support and guide junior pastry team members while contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, allergen awareness, and safe kitchen practices.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for pastry, desserts, and delivering memorable guest experiences.
  • Reliable, dependable, and committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism and hospitality.
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting/moving up to 50 lbs as required.
