Position Summary

Powerfleet is seeking a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to support our U.S. and Canadian employee population as a trusted advisor to business leaders. Based in Canada, this role partners closely with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, talent strategy, workforce planning, and employee engagement while ensuring compliance with employment laws and HR best practices across both countries. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, a consultative approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global, post-merger, matrixed organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as the primary HR Business Partner for designated business units across the United States and Canada, providing strategic HR guidance to leaders and managers.

  • Partner with business leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent strategies that support business objectives.

  • Build trusted relationships with leaders, providing coaching and guidance on leadership effectiveness, team development, and organizational challenges.

  • Influence business decisions through sound HR expertise and data-driven recommendations.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Provide expert guidance on U.S. and Canadian employment legislation, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local employment laws.

  • Lead and support employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and terminations.

  • Partner with Legal and HR leadership on complex employee issues while mitigating organizational risk.

  • Promote fair, consistent, and compliant application of company policies and HR programs.

Compensation & HR Programs

  • Collaborate with Total Rewards on compensation planning, market benchmarking, merit increases, promotions, and organizational changes.

  • Support annual HR processes, including performance reviews, compensation planning, employee engagement initiatives, and talent reviews.

  • Ensure consistent application of HR programs and policies across assigned client groups.

Change Management & Workforce Analytics

  • Lead HR initiatives supporting organizational restructuring, integration efforts, acquisitions, and business transformation projects.

  • Analyze workforce metrics and HR data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations to business leaders.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and the employee experience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Payroll, Legal, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, and business leaders to deliver a consistent employee experience.

  • Support enterprise-wide HR initiatives and contribute to the ongoing evolution of HR programs, policies, and best practices across North America.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources Business Partner experience supporting both U.S. and Canadian employee populations.

  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment legislation (federal and provincial) and U.S. federal and state employment laws.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and performance management.

  • Experience partnering with senior business leaders in a strategic advisory capacity.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience using workforce data and HR metrics to support business decisions.

  • Excellent communication, consulting, coaching, and influencing skills.

  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgment and professionalism.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and globally distributed organization.

  • Based in Canada with flexibility to support U.S. business hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a global, multinational, or post-merger organization.

  • Experience leading organizational change and business transformation initiatives.

  • Experience with HRIS platforms and workforce analytics tools.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000-$125,000 CAD, with eligibility for additional variable compensation. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and location.
