Databricks Application Developer

We are seeking a Databricks Application Developer to join our growing data engineering team. The successful candidate will design, develop, and support modern data solutions using Databricks while ensuring strong data governance and quality practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable cloud-based data solutions in an Azure environment.

This role requires you to work from our downtown Toronto office and/or the client office a minimum of 1 day per week, subject to change.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Databricks.
• Implement and manage data governance using Unity Catalog.
• Develop and maintain data quality frameworks utilizing DQX.
• Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Support deployment activities using Azure DevOps.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Databricks workloads for performance and reliability.
• Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and best practices.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Databricks Developer.
• Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog for data governance.
• Experience implementing Data Quality Management using DQX.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies.
• Experience using Azure DevOps.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, client-facing environment.

Assets

• Experience working in financial services or enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of modern data engineering best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native development.
• Azure certifications are considered an asset.

the company is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
