Role Summary

The DevOps Engineer will join the Software Engineering team that leads the delivery of products and platforms that enable OMERS Global Investments (GI) and Corporate teams to analyze opportunities, support investment decision-making, and optimize the OMERS investment portfolio.

This role reports to the Lead Site Reliability Engineer, Software Engineering, and works across investment and corporate teams including Capital Markets, Infrastructure, Private Equity, and in close collaboration with Finance, Risk & Compliance teams.

As a key member of the Software Engineering team, the DevOps Engineer will help improve application hosting, monitoring, automation, and operational capabilities by championing industry best practices and delivering reliable cloud and container platform solutions. This role partners closely with application developers, data engineers, data analysts, investment professionals, and platform teams to support scalable, resilient, and secure solutions across one or more product teams.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Maintaining, managing, and scaling cloud and container infrastructure for existing and new services, with a strong focus on security, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Designing, building, and maintaining robust automation for monitoring, deployments, recovery, scaling, alerting, and operational workflows.
  • Partnering with Software Engineering, Operations, and Platform teams to improve reliability, resilience, and operational efficiency across cloud and container platforms.
  • Supporting the migration of legacy applications to containerized platforms, including deployment readiness and operational support.
  • Analyzing technical issues related to performance, connectivity, deployments, and platform operations, and driving resolution with minimal disruption.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to understand infrastructure impacts, align expectations, and ensure changes are delivered safely and reliably.
  • Remaining current on industry trends, sharing knowledge across teams, and applying best practices for containerization, observability, automation, security, and support.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of experience solving sophisticated technical problems using public cloud infrastructure; Microsoft Azure experience is preferred.
  • Experience understanding and operating cloud infrastructure and container platforms.
  • Strong hands‑on experience across Azure public cloud services, with depth in two or more of the following: GitHub Enterprise or Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps pipelines and releases, Azure PaaS and IaaS, Datadog, Azure Application Insights, and Azure Monitor.
  • Experience writing automation using Python, Shell, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience developing operational procedures and improving automation for monitoring, alerting, recovery, scaling, and security, and support.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to trace performance, connectivity, or deployment failures and resolve technical issues.
  • Proven ability to build trusted technical relationships, align expectations across partners, and work collaboratively in a team-focused environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an Agile environment and manage multiple priorities while maintaining reliable and efficient infrastructure.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Azure Container Instances.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Experience with Networking and Security in Azure.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud and hybrid infrastructure, architecture designs, and technology management.
  • Experience supporting containerization initiatives for legacy or existing applications.
  • Azure cloud certification.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or engineering field of study, or equivalent work experience.

We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. In delivering on our pension promise, keeping us connected to our work and each other, our flexible hybrid work guideline requires teams to come in to the office 4 days per week.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.

The expected salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year.

You may also be eligible to receive an annual Incentive Award pursuant to our Short-term Incentive plan and our Long-Term Incentive plan (if applicable), and to participate in our group benefits and retirement plans – details on these elements of compensation are included within OMERS & Oxford offer letters.

As one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans, our people‑first culture is at its best when our workforce reflects the communities where we live and work — and the members we proudly serve.

From hire to retire, we are an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive, barrier‑free recruitment and selection process that extends all the way through your employee experience. This sense of belonging and connection is cultivated up, down and across our global organization thanks to our vast network of Employee Resource Groups with executive leader sponsorship, our Purpose@Work committee and employee recognition programs.

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are used to support certain stages of the OMERS recruitment process. While AI assists us in our process, human judgment and decision‑making remain central to our candidate experience.
