Role Overview

This role leads strategic credit risk initiatives within the RESL portfolio. It is well suited for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys tackling complex problems, and is motivated by learning and applying new tools and technologies to improve how credit risk is managed.

The role is responsible for setting direction, applying sound judgment, and influencing outcomes on work that is often open‑ended and cross‑functional. It involves close partnership with senior leaders, business teams, and technical experts to strengthen credit risk decision‑making and oversight through analytics‑driven insights and modern risk management approaches.

Success in the role requires the ability to maintain a broad, portfolio‑level perspective while remaining organized and detail‑oriented, ensuring ideas translate into effective and executable risk outcomes.

Role Purpose

To strengthen the RESL credit risk management framework by improving adjudication quality, data integrity, and risk oversight. This is achieved through automated, data‑driven controls and decision frameworks, and by providing clear, structured, and well‑reasoned recommendations on material risk matters.

Key Accountabilities

Credit Risk Strategy & Decision Leadership

  • Frame complex credit risk issues into clear problem statements and decision objectives
  • Assess existing risk frameworks and adjudication practices to identify opportunities to improve clarity and explainability of credit decisions
  • Make recommendations that are prudent, policy‑compliant, and practical for RESL business, and clearly explain the thinking behind them

Advanced Analytics & AI Enablement

  • Lead the business risk perspective on initiatives that apply advanced analytics or AI‑enabled tools to enhance adjudication quality, monitoring, and risk oversight
  • Build and maintain strong knowledge of RESL data, lending policies, and underwriting practices to inform analytics use cases
  • Partner with analytics and/or model development teams to ensure outputs are relevant, interpretable, and aligned with governance expectations
  • Actively learn and apply emerging technologies to improve credit risk insight, efficiency, and control

Executive Communication & Stakeholder Influence

  • Develop clear, concise executive‑level materials that communicate insights, risks, progress, and recommendations
  • Translate analytical findings into structured narratives that support informed and timely decision making
  • Influence outcomes through effective engagement with stakeholders across risk, business, and technology
  • Contribute as a trusted thought partner in discussions related to credit risk strategy and modernization

Ways of Working

  • Lead workstreams with accountability for scope, quality, and timelines
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and disciplined thinking through structured questioning and evaluation of alternatives
  • Balance strategic thinking with strong organization, attention to detail, and execution discipline

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of corporate work experience, including leadership of cross‑functional initiatives
  • Experience contributing to or leading innovative, transformative, or non‑BAU projects
  • Experience partnering closely with analytics, data science, or model development teams to deliver outcomes
  • Background in credit risk strategy, underwriting, or portfolio risk management; secured lending experience is an asset

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (4‑year) from an accredited university
  • Degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, or a related STEM field

Analytics & Technical Skills

  • Hands‑on experience using AI‑enabled tools, with the ability to effectively prompt, iterate, and apply outputs to support analysis and problem solving
  • Proficiency in programming and data analysis tools such as Python and SQL/SAS
  • Experience using data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Visio or similar tools to document processes, decision flows, frameworks, or control designs

Professional Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level presentation
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, decision‑ready messages
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity and multiple workstreams effectively

What Success Looks Like

  • Credit risk decisions and oversight are meaningfully strengthened through analytics and modern tools
  • Analytics and AI initiatives address real risk needs and meet governance expectations
  • Senior leaders receive clear, well‑structured recommendations that support timely action
  • Stakeholders view the role as a reliable and effective partner across risk, business, and technology
