The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 and is an in-office role.

Does this sound like you

· You care deeply about candidate experience and hiring manager partnerships

· You enjoy building structure, consistency, and scalable processes

· You use data and insight, not gut feel, to improve outcomes

· You take pride in hiring the right people into the right roles

What you’ll own

You will lead and deliver end-to-end recruitment across the business, balancing high-volume hiring with specialized roles, while building systems that scale.

Full-Cycle Recruitment

· Owning the hiring process from intake through offer across all brands

· Partner with leaders to understand business needs, timelines, and success profiles

Hiring Partnerships

· Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers

· Guide decision-making with structured, fair, and informed processes

· Ensure alignment between role requirements, compensation, and market realities

Quality, Compliance and Documentation

· Ensure all hiring practices are compliant with applicable legislation and internal standards (ESA, OHRC, etc.)

· Maintain clear, accurate documentation and audit-ready processes

· Uphold unbiased, consistent hiring practices across all roles

Continuous Improvement

· Identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve recruitment processes

· Use data to refine hiring strategies and reduce risk

· Contribute to scalable, consistent recruitment practices across the organization

Hiring Outcomes

  • Ensure candidates are qualified, values-aligned, and set up for long-term success
  • Support strong transitions into onboarding to reduce early turnover

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent training and experience required
  • 4-6 years relevant experience; Canadian and U.S. experience is a strong asset
  • Experience supporting multiple business units and/or jurisdictions (Canada and U.S.) is an asset
  • Human Resources Management education or experience is a strong asset
  • Technical and system expertise; HRIS or ADP knowledge is a strong asset
  • Working knowledge of applicable employment legislation, including Ontario legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code) and relevant U.S. federal and state laws (e.g., FLSA, OSHA, ADA, FMLA)
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Self-motivated with strong project and time management skills
  • Goal-oriented, with growth mindset
  • Commitment to confidentiality and tact
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all team members across the organization
  • Strong sense of values alignment, ethics and ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

How you’ll succeed in this role

· You balance speed, quality, and fairness in every hiring decision

· You bring structure and consistency to ambiguous or evolving processes

· You take ownership and follow through

· You build strong, trusted relationships with leaders across the business

· You focus on outcomes, not just activity

Our culture

At Book Depot Inc., we are driven by a simple purpose: getting more books into more hands.

We are a team that:

· Works collaboratively and supports shared success

· Embraces continuous improvement and change

· Values practical thinking, strong execution, and accountability

Compensation and work environment

· Salary range of $65,000 to $75,000

· In-office role with high visibility and collaboration

· Opportunity to shape recruitment practices across a growing organization

· Fast-paced, high-impact environment where your work matters

Ready to make an impact?

If you are excited about building strong teams, improving hiring outcomes, and shaping how recruitment is done at scale, we’d love to hear from you!

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, due to volume, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
