The Team:

As an Associate Director on ourLife/Health Insuranceteam you will join a supportive and collaborative group of approximately 15 analysts with diverse backgrounds andexperiencesin the financial services sector. Our team specializes in conducting comprehensive credit analysis for life/health insurance financial strength and debt ratings working closely with analytical colleagues across the U.S. & Canada. Weoperatein a hybrid work environment that values both teamwork and individual excellence fostering an atmosphere where experienced professionals can grow while mentoring the next generation of analysts.

The Impact:

In this role you will bedirectly responsiblefor shaping credit opinions that influence market decisions and investor confidence. Your analyticalexpertisewill drive rating recommendations for assigned insurance entities while your participation as a voting member of rating committees will helpdetermineoutcomes thatimpactthe broader financial services landscape. Through rigorous analytical work mentoring junior team members and engaging with clients and stakeholders you will contribute tomaintainingS&PGlobalsreputation as the industry leader in credit analysis and ratings.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary analyst for assigned issuers preparing well-supported rating recommendations for rating committees with clear rating reports supporting our credit opinions

  • Serve as an active vocal voting member of rating committees which deliberate rating outcomes and review materials prior to publication

  • Publishtimelyand insightful credit reports as well as contribute to relevant research pieces

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and financial statement analysis while staying informed on relevant news and issues affecting credit quality in the industry and broader market

  • Coach and mentor junior analysts providing analytical support to team members and fostering a collaborative environment

  • Connect your day-to-day analytical work with broader team priorities and strategic objectives

  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather information present findings and address inquiries in a professional mannerdemonstratingsolid presentation skills in front of internal and external audiences

  • Operate effectively in a regulated compliance driven environmentleveragingworkflow systems

  • Apply solutions to complex analytical issues while taking an end-to-end view of credit assessment processes

  • Take initiative toidentifypotential credit risks and suggest process improvements to enhance analytical quality

  • Deliver high-quality analytical work consistently while meeting critical deadlines

  • Identifyand resolve analytical challenges using data-driven approaches and creative problem-solving

  • All employeesare required towork from the office a minimum of 2 days per week

What Were Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Accounting Engineering Mathematics or related analytical field; MBA CPA or CFA preferred

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have6 years of experience in financial statement analysis accountingconceptsand financial modeling preferably with experience in corporate credit analysis

  • Strong client-facing skills with ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences

  • Ability to think independently and critically with strong integrity analytical curiosity problem-solving and research skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) for internal and external stakeholder interactions

  • Strong attention to detail anddemonstratedquantitative analysis capabilities

  • Ability to accurately interpret financial data and appropriately apply analytical criteria to generate key insights and conclusions

  • Collaborative team player with ability to work independently and willingness to support team initiatives

  • Proactive and organized with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and capital markets with knowledge of credit rating methodologies preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and aptitude for learning proprietary analytical software and databases

  • Werequireall candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we canproceedto an offer

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in mentoring or coaching junior professionals in analytical roles

  • Demonstrated presentation experience with internal and external stakeholders

  • Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements

  • Experience with financial modeling and forecasting for insurance entities

Compensation/Benefits Information:

Theanticipatedbase salary range for this position is $120000 - $192000 depending on location experience and skills. This role is eligible for an annual incentive plan andadditionalS&P Global benefits. For more information on the benefits we providetoour employees please visit S&P Global Benefits.
