Data Analyst, Product

Relay

Product, IT, Data Science

Toronto, ON, Canada

CAD 99k-121k / year

Posted on Jul 25, 2026

Relay is a digital banking platform that gives self-made business owners the tools and know-how to be great with money—bringing clarity, confidence, and control to every dollar earned, so they can turn hard work into lasting success. We do this by replacing financial guesswork with real visibility, transforming cash flow from a constant source of stress into a clear signal owners can use to run stronger, more resilient businesses.

We are looking for a Data Analyst, Product who will play a pivotal role in bridging data insights with strategic business decisions as Relay enters an exciting new chapter of growth. As we’ve grown, we need support from you in bridging the gap between data insights and strategic product or business decisions, influencing the direction and success of Relay. You'll be instrumental in ensuring that our product & business teams are empowered with deep, actionable insights, enabling us to make informed, data-driven decisions that resonate with our customers' needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams by proactively proposing analytical solutions and data insights that drive improvement in key strategic pillars
  • Ensuring teams have the necessary data they need to function effectively by identifying and tracking core KPIs on top of building dashboards and reports
  • Performing in-depth analysis to drive fresh insights, and inform business recommendations by presenting trends to stakeholders
  • Monitoring and evaluating data quality to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data
  • Consistently delivering high-quality data models, easy-to-interpret visuals (such as charts, graphs and dashboards), and reports that demonstrate a strong understanding of business needs and objectives
  • Apply statistical methods to dissect and interpret data, aiding in the prediction and evaluation of new product features and market opportunities. This includes conducting A/B tests and measuring the impact of product changes on user behaviour
  • Synthesize information from diverse sources. Integrate and analyze data from user feedback, surveys, operational metrics, and event logs to connect insights directly to business outcomes
  • Regularly reporting outcomes and insights to stakeholders across Relay, including the senior leadership team, providing a clear narrative of the impact on business objectives, thereby influencing future data-driven decision-making

Who You Are

  • You have 2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or in another data-focused role
  • You are fluent in SQL, including writing complex queries, working with window functions, optimizing performance, and understanding data warehousing concepts and security best practices. You're able to clearly explain your approach and reasoning, not just produce a working query
  • You have experience using business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Metabase, Sigma, Periscope, Mode, or similar platforms
  • You have a track record of using data to influence business decisions. You enjoy turning complex analyses into clear, actionable insights that drive meaningful outcomes.
  • You start with the business problem before jumping into the data, asking thoughtful questions to understand the context and objectives
  • You have experience working with large datasets, from exploration and analysis through to delivering insights. You're comfortable working independently while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
  • You communicate clearly, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and enjoy collaborating across multiple teams
  • You thrive in ambiguity and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment where priorities, processes, and data infrastructure continue to evolve

Bonus Points

  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS, GCP or Azure) and familiarity with cloud data warehouse platforms (Bigquery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
  • Familiarity with dbt for data modelling, automation, or experimentation
  • Experience with a data-oriented programming language (Python, R)
  • You’ve joined a company at its early stages and have seen it through scale

The Interview Process

  • Stage 1: A 45-minute Google Meet video call with a member of the Talent Team
  • Stage 2: A 60-minute Google Meet video call with the Hiring Manager
  • Stage 3: A take-home case study, followed by a 60-minute Google Meet video call with members of our Data team.
  • Stage 4: A 45-minute in-person interview with a member of our Leadership team

Our Compensation Approach

We believe Relayers should feel rewarded for the impact they have on our mission and growth. Compensation follows impact. As impact increases, compensation grows, and we do not limit compensation changes to a once-a-year review cycle.

The annual salary range for this role is $99,000 CAD to $121,000 CAD.

For candidates who demonstrate full readiness for the defined scope of the role, the typical starting salary is $110,000 CAD. Offers below this point reflect candidates we believe can grow into the full scope of the role with support and development. Offers above this point reflect impact that meaningfully exceeds the role’s defined expectations or an expanded scope from day one.

We encourage you to have a conversation with your recruiter and ask questions about compensation throughout the hiring process. For more information on our compensation philosophy and perks and benefits, visit our Candidate Hub.

Why Relay Might Be the Perfect Fit For You

  • You push relentlessly for reinvention: You're always asking "how can this be better?" -- in your work, in your craft, in yourself. Comfort is a signal to push harder, not coast. You'd rather build something better than defend something familiar.
  • You crave autonomy: We trust our team with big challenges and the freedom to solve them. If you’re someone who takes initiative, is comfortable taking risks, and seeks input when needed, you’ll find the freedom here empowering.
  • You own your work: You take pride in your work, follow through on commitments, and feel a deep sense of responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.
  • You build with AI, not just use it: You're actively embedding AI into how you work, pushing what's possible, and bringing your team along with you.
  • You care about impact, not noise: You care deeply about the substance of your work. You measure success by results, not recognition, and you let your work speak for itself.
  • You’re energized by complexity and ambiguity: You enjoy tackling problems that don’t come with a playbook. You’re comfortable building from scratch, iterating as you go, and collaborating to shape the best path forward.
  • You seek out feedback: You see directness as respect, not criticism. You actively seek input, sit with hard truths, and use feedback as fuel for improvement.
  • Small businesses are why we're here: Relay exists to help them thrive — and that mission has to resonate with you.

Join Us

We're looking for people who are relentless, curious, and care deeply about the work. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly match the job description – your perspective and drive matter more. We welcome diverse backgrounds and people who think critically, challenge the status quo, and want to help small businesses thrive.
