We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in hematological pathology and education at the hospital. The qualified applicant shall hold a medical degree and relevant Hematological Pathology Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. Applicants with Anatomic Pathology/Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology or General Pathology/Diagnostic and Clinical Pathology credentials will be expected to have completed a certified hematopathology fellowship or demonstrate equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will also have competency in coagulation testing, hemoglobinopathies and core/special laboratory hematology. For interested individuals, training in molecular sign out may be facilitated as well as opportunities to engage in laboratory management and advocacy initiatives at the local, provincial and national level. Additional clinical expertise in lymphoma pathology and/or transfusion medicine/cell therapy services are assets but optional. Community outreach including travel to partner institutions within the Greater Toronto Area may be required.

A fully accredited Hematological Pathology residency program is in place and teaching of residents, fellows and medical students is expected. English is the primary language of work.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for laboratory physicians in the Province of Ontario (currently approx. $404,000 per annum).

The Search Committee will consider applications received by September 4, 2026 for shortlisting. The position will remain open until filled. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted. Potential candidates may be asked to prepare an oral presentation for the Division of Hematological Pathology/Hematology Site Group.
