Job description

Our client is a well-established Canadian mechanical and electrical engineering consulting firm with more than 33 years of expertise in building performance, energy systems, decarbonization, and net-zero design. Trusted by municipalities, institutional organizations, and public-sector clients across Ontario, the firm has built a reputation for delivering practical, construction-ready engineering solutions that reduce energy consumption, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and improve building performance.

As the firm enters its next phase of growth, we are seeking a Chief Growth Officer (CGO) to lead the organization's business development strategy and accelerate revenue growth across Ontario. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially driven executive to expand the firm's presence within the private sector while leveraging its established technical excellence and strong public-sector reputation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, strengthening key client relationships, and driving sustainable business growth. Working closely with the executive leadership team, the Chief Growth Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping the firm's growth strategy and expanding its market presence.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the firm's expansion into private-sector markets, including commercial real estate, industrial, healthcare, multi-residential, retail, post-secondary, and institutional sectors.
  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan focused on long-term revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Leverage an established network of building owners, developers, property managers, REITs, asset managers, and industry stakeholders to generate new business opportunities.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with contractors, architects, consultants, developers, and strategic partners that influence project opportunities.
  • Maintain and expand existing municipal and public-sector relationships while identifying opportunities to diversify the client portfolio.
  • Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, overseeing opportunity identification, client engagement, and proposal strategy.
  • Identify emerging markets, industry trends, and new service opportunities aligned with client needs and the evolving building performance landscape.
  • Collaborate with technical and project teams to develop client-focused solutions and winning pursuit strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and association meetings to increase market visibility and strengthen brand recognition.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, fostering long-term partnerships that result in repeat business and strategic growth.
  • Champion the company's value proposition and enhance its reputation as a leader in building performance, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainable infrastructure.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • 10+ years of progressive business development or executive leadership experience within engineering consulting, energy services, building systems, construction, sustainability consulting, or a related technical services environment.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business, securing strategic partnerships, and growing revenue through client acquisition and relationship management.
  • Established network within Ontario's commercial, industrial, institutional, real estate, development, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems, HVAC infrastructure, energy management, retrofit projects, and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic growth plans that result in measurable business expansion.
  • Proven ability to influence senior decision-makers and build lasting relationships with executive leaders, property owners, developers, consultants, and municipal stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Ontario funding and incentive programs, including Enbridge, IESO, NRCan, CMHC, and related initiatives, is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline. An MBA, P.Eng., , or similar designation is preferred
  • Exceptional business development, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset and entrepreneurial approach to growth.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and results-oriented, with a passion for identifying opportunities and creating long-term value for clients and the organization.

Compensation Range: $150,000 - $ 175,000 with ETO up to $250,000
