Indigenous Pathways is a paid full-time 9-month learning and development opportunity designed to support First Nations Inuit or Métis individuals in honing their professional skills at CBC. The program provides training within an all-Indigenous cohort personalized career development and hands-on work experience. No prior media production education or job experience is required to apply. The current program runs from October 2026 through June 2027.

One candidate will be selected to work with each of this years host teams. The position is based in Toronto with the Business and Rights team. Business & Rights works closely with programming areas drafting production contracts negotiating rights and maintaining relationships with both internal clients and external partners. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in learning more about the business side of the media production industry.

This is a full-time role utilizing a hybrid work model allowing for both home and in-office collaboration as required. Please note that relocation costs are not covered.

This role is for you if you:

  • Are First Nations Inuit or Métis.

  • Have a deep interest in digital and video storytelling.

  • Are passionate about music arts and culture within your community or beyond.

  • Are eager to gain practical hands-on experience at CBC.

In this program participants will:

  • Develop essential skills and tools for a career in media.

  • Build meaningful relationships with mentors trainers peers and Indigenous colleagues.

  • Gain valuable professional experience.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Eagerness to learn about best business practices of the broadcast industry

  • Interest in obtaining permissions for using third party content

  • Ability to perform administrative duties related to content licensing

  • Research skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Interest in working as part of a team
