Serving more than 9,000 families annually through inpatient and outpatient programs and services, our teams are helping to shape the future of pediatric disability care.

As a top 40 Canadian research hospital and academic hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, Holland Bloorview integrates care, teaching, research and scholarship to advance practice and improve the lives of children and youth with disabilities and developmental differences. All clinical staff are expected to contribute to the academic agenda through one or more of the following activities: supervising students, teaching, academic service, scholarship and/or research.

Here, you will find an inspiring, inclusive, innovative and collaborative work environment, competitive compensation and benefits, and programs that support ongoing learning, professional growth and well-being, so you can do meaningful work while continuing to grow your career.

We’re daring to create a world where all youth and children belong. Join us!

Position Summary

This is a unique opportunity for an innovative and experienced Clinical Psychologist to help shape the Extensive Needs Service (ENS) at Holland Bloorview, a distinctive, province-leading model of care for children and youth with highly complex developmental, behavioural, mental health, medical and social needs.

ENS serves children and youth up to age 18 whose needs cannot be met through a single service stream and who benefit from an integrated, trauma-informed approach across mental, behavioural and developmental health.

In this role, you will be part of a highly specialized interprofessional team providing intensive, individualized ambulatory services to clients and families over a nine-month pathway. Working alongside behaviour analysts and technicians, and disciplines including speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, psychiatry, nursing, clinical pharmacy, dietetics and social work, the psychologist will bring a critical clinical psychology lens to assessment, formulation, intervention, consultation and program development.

This is a chance to do work that is complex, collaborative and deeply meaningful, while contributing to an evolving service model grounded in best practice, evidence, equity and family partnership. Although this role will begin in ENS, you may contribute across other programs based on clinical need and operational requirements.

This is a regular 0.8 FTE (30 hours/week) position. FTE can be flexible - please let us know about your availability in your application cover letter. With a minimum of 0.6 FTE, benefits include access to our comprehensive group health and dental plan. At all FTE levels, benefits include enrollment in the HOOPP defined-benefit pension plan, and paid vacation or corresponding pay-in-lieu.

  • Provides education and training sessions to interdisciplinary team as appropriate/requested.
  • Engages in various relevant program-development for Extensive Needs and the Neurodevelopmental Feeding service.
  • Supports program evaluation and ongoing service improvement.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Psychology and registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) required, with declared competencies in Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents. Declared competency with families would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in providing assessment, treatment, and diagnosis services for children with complex behavioural and emotional difficulties, and their families.
  • Knowledge and experience in providing intervention to children and parents in the management of social-emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience with adapting interventions to the complex needs of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge and experience of trauma-informed interventions.
  • Strong clinical formulation skills and implements individualized treatment plans based on assessed needs in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
