Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer to join their quality engineering team.

In this role, you will be responsible for testing and delivering complex software requirements to drive critical business outcomes. Operating as a key individual contributor within an Agile team environment, you will ensure software meets strict functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. You will design, build, and maintain automated and manual test suites, condition test data, analyze database behavior, and partner with cross-functional teams to triage defects and ensure smooth environment promotions.

Responsibilities
Test Planning & Execution: Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases based on functional, non-functional, and regulatory/compliance requirements. Lead test planning at the team level and clearly define in-scope and out-of-scope items.

Automation Framework & Scripting: Identify automation opportunities, implement testing frameworks, and develop automated test scripts using Selenium, Cucumber, and Java.

Database & API Validation: Perform deep backend database testing utilizing SQL and MongoDB, along with comprehensive API endpoint validation.

Scrum & Requirement Refinement: Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, ensuring user stories are fully refined with clear, testable acceptance criteria. Lead test case reviews with stakeholders to ensure optimal coverage.

Test Data Management: Condition, generate, and design test data while strictly adhering to data privacy and compliance standards across all test environments.

Defect Triage & Traceability: Execute test suites, record results, report defects with thorough diagnostic context, and lead defect triage sessions. Create and maintain end-to-end forward and backward traceability matrices.

Environment & Test Suite Promotion: Catalog and maintain test suites (Smoke, Integration, Regression) using tools like Jira and ALM to assist in promoting codebase releases to higher environments.

Qualifications
Must-Have Requirements:
- Automation & Engineering Experience: 8+ years of hands-on software testing experience with 5+ years dedicated to test automation using Selenium, Cucumber, and Java.

- Database Expertise: Proven experience with relational databases (SQL) and NoSQL environments (MongoDB).

- API & QA Processes: Strong technical background in API testing, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) workflows, and end-to-end defect tracking processes.

- Agile Proficiency: 5–7+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments utilizing tools such as Jira.

- Emerging Tech / AI Exposure: 2–3 years of foundational exposure or experience with AI-driven testing tools, AI concepts, or intelligent test automation approaches.

Desired Qualifications / Nice-to-Haves:
= Direct domain experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector.

- Strong Core Java development background for advanced framework architecture.

- Experience with Micro Focus ALM Octane for lifecycle and quality management.
