Job description

Join us as we change healthcare for the better.

OceanMD, a WELL Health Company, is the leading provider of EMR-integrated Patient Engagement and eReferral tools in Canada, playing a critical role in millions of patient visits and thousands of referrals every week. Our digital healthcare solutions empower patients and physicians to overcome the barriers preventing the timely delivery of healthcare services. By replacing paper forms with digital tools, we give patients and providers secure ways to connect, share health information, and update patient records.

  • Empower patients to share health information with their physician before, during, and after visits, helping to ensure health records are up-to-date and accurate while improving patient care.
  • Meet the growing demand for digital solutions with online booking and secure messaging that improves the patient’s experience, reduces the need for unnecessary phone calls, and makes clinics more efficient.
  • Improve access to care by replacing faxes, displaying wait times, and reducing the time to process and access specialist referrals.

Who we need

Reporting to the Vice-President, Product & Interoperability, we are hiring a Technical Product Manager, Platform to lead the evolution of the core platform capabilities that power OceanMD's digital health ecosystem. As our new Technical Product Manager, Platform, you will own the shared services and platform features that enable our Patient Engagement and Provider Network solutions, working at the intersection of product strategy, engineering, operations, and platform architecture. You will partner closely with Engineering, UX, Support, Operations, and cross‑functional stakeholders to define priorities, translate complex technical and operational needs into clear product requirements, and deliver secure, scalable platform capabilities that improve the experience for providers, administrators, and internal teams alike.

This is a new, full‑time, hybrid role in Toronto requiring work in the office 2-3 days per week. Occasional travel within Canada as needed.

What’s in it for you

Build the foundation behind Canada's leading digital health platform. While many product management roles focus on customer‑facing features, this opportunity is also about shaping the platform capabilities that make every OceanMD solution more secure, scalable, reliable, and easier to use. Your work will influence multiple product lines and thousands of healthcare providers across Canada.

Work on meaningful technical challenges. You will collaborate closely with engineering on platform architecture, APIs, security, access management, workflows, integrations, and operational tooling. You'll have the opportunity to solve complex problems, balance competing priorities, and deliver solutions that improve both customer and internal team experiences.

Grow your product leadership. This role offers significant ownership while providing the mentorship and collaboration of an experienced product organization. You'll gain exposure across engineering, operations, implementation, customer support, and leadership while building expertise in healthcare technology, interoperability, and large‑scale SaaS platforms.

How you will make an impact

  • Own platform capabilities. You will lead the product lifecycle for shared platform features, including Ocean Portal, site and user administration, provider onboarding, APIs, security workflows, and other foundational services that support multiple OceanMD products.
  • Partner with Engineering. You will work closely with developers to understand technical constraints, define scalable solutions, clarify system behaviour, and ensure new capabilities are secure, reliable, and built for long‑term growth.
  • Translate complexity into clear execution. You will gather technical, operational, and business requirements and convert them into user stories, workflows, acceptance criteria, release plans, and documentation that enable efficient product delivery.
  • Improve operational experiences. Working alongside Support, DevOps, Education, and Implementation teams, you will identify opportunities to simplify administration, reduce operational friction, improve onboarding workflows, and enhance the tools internal teams rely on every day.
  • Drive product decisions. You will prioritize platform initiatives, balancing customer needs, technical debt, security, scalability, operational impact, and business priorities while making thoughtful trade‑offs that maximize long‑term value.
  • Collaborate across the organization. You will facilitate discovery sessions, design discussions, stakeholder alignment meetings, testing activities, and release readiness, ensuring teams remain informed and aligned throughout the product development process.

What you bring

  • The product management experience. You have experience managing software products, technical product initiatives, or complex delivery programs where you owned requirements, prioritization, and cross‑functional execution. You are comfortable working across multiple stakeholders while bringing clarity to complex problems.
  • The technical curiosity and confidence. You enjoy collaborating with engineers and can confidently participate in discussions involving APIs, system architecture, authentication, integrations, data flows, security, and platform scalability. You don't need to be an engineer, but you are comfortable working in highly technical environments and asking thoughtful questions.
  • The operational mindset. You enjoy understanding how products are configured, supported, and used in the real world. You naturally look for opportunities to reduce friction, improve workflows, and create solutions that make life easier for both customers and internal teams.
  • The communication skills. You can translate technical concepts into language that different audiences understand, facilitate productive conversations, and build alignment across engineering, operations, leadership, and customer‑facing teams.
  • The collaborative approach. You build trusted relationships across teams, remain organized while managing multiple priorities, and thrive in environments where success depends on thoughtful collaboration and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

Experience working in healthcare technology, SaaS platforms, or enterprise software is considered an asset. Exposure to interoperability standards such as HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, OAuth, identity and access management, or healthcare integrations would also be beneficial.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $90K–$110K. The salary will be determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and the needs of the organization. At OceanMD we are committed to fair and equitable compensation and aim to provide a competitive salary that reflects the value and expertise of the successful candidate.

What you can expect from our hiring process:

  • A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor discussing your interest in the role and your experience. The conversation will be recorded using BrightHire, an AI‑powered video interview tool. More details will be shared when you are invited to interview.
  • An in‑person interview with the Vice‑President, Product & Interoperability and the Director, Product Operations to learn about the role and product strategy. You will be able to share your insights and expertise, and you will have time to ask questions about the company and the role. A simulated ‘client‑facing meeting’ exercise may also be included to learn more about how you engage with stakeholders in common scenarios for this role.
  • A virtual interview with members of the leadership team. This will be a chance for you to ask questions about the company’s growth trajectory and how you will play a key role as the new Technical Product Manager.

Our culture, our team

We’re a scaling company expanding rapidly across the country. We are incredibly passionate about our ability to make a difference in the lives of Canadians through our technology, and we firmly believe that we can do our best work with realistic deadlines and transparent communication about where we are and what’s next for us as an organization. We understand the time it takes to revolutionize a paper‑based industry and develop and release high‑quality, resilient, compliant, and responsive technology that is easy to use, so we ensure that pace is factored into our projects and deliverables across the organization.

Our focus is your growth and professional satisfaction, resulting in clear opportunities to help us scale and be better through your ideas and the chance to be part of projects and try new things. We are dedicated to our team, and we strongly believe that family comes first. To that end, we strive to find opportunities to support balance in the workplace and between work and home. As part of this, we have flexible hours, regular opportunities for social get‑togethers, and meeting‑free Friday afternoons.

Everyone here is deeply committed to what we can do - and the potential we have to do more. As a result, we provide an opportunity for Cognisant Causes, our name for passion projects in healthcare, where no funding is available and a little technical expertise and time is needed to make a big difference. It’s a way to give back and to add further meaning to what you do here.

A note on values

We value ethical behaviour above all else. We care about each other, and we respect each other as professionals and people. We treat our customers with respect and keep our word, even if it hurts. We own our mistakes. We strive for honesty and integrity every day in every situation. We look for people who share these values.

We are transforming patient care across the country, and we’ve only just begun. Join us

We strive to build a diverse team and encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented groups. If we can make this easier through accommodation in the recruitment process, please let us know.
