Legal Technology Lawyer – AI Enablement is a strategic and hands-on non-practicing role designed to accelerate and support the practical adoption of AI solutions and technology. We are looking for lawyers who have corporate or litigation related practice experience.
Embedded within the practice teams they support, and centrally coordinated through Knowledge and Practice Innovation, the role focuses on making AI usable in day-to-day legal work through hands-on training, coaching, and real-time support on live matters. As a key contact for the region, this person will be a visible and pivotal liaison for the practice, a familiar presence in practice group meetings and a trusted resource for the legal professionals.
The incumbent will support lawyers across the range of the Firm’s AI solutions and technology applicable to the practice and its workflows, help lawyers leverage both AI and traditional legal technology tools for the best outcomes, and provide guidance on leveraging AI available in the Firm to reduce time spent on administrative tasks.
This role requires technological proficiency combined with knowledge of legal workflows. It is a progressive opportunity for a creative and forward thinker interested in combining legal experience with technology and innovation.
Reporting to the Legal Technology and AI Enablement Lead, this role will serve as a bridge between legal practice, innovation and learning by working closely with the AI Learning Counsel, and other members of the Knowledge and Practice Innovation and Learning and Development teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key local contact and trusted peer for the legal professionals in their practice groups to lead local change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of legal AI solutions and technologies.
- Attend practice group meetings, build relationships and credibility, communicate benefits, and address barriers to adoption by working closely with local practice teams to advance legal AI solutions and technologies that fit how they work.
- Provide hands-on training, coaching, and real-time “on file” support to lawyers in their practice groups to integrate AI into their daily work in practical and effective ways:
- Matter-based training that supports immediate use of the Firm’s AI applications on key workflows.
- Office hours and targeted coaching sessions to build confidence and accelerate adoption
- Support for AI usage in live matters, including troubleshooting issues and demonstrating how AI can enhance corporate or litigation related practice workflows
- Reinforce safe use standards, quality expectations, and professional judgment in the use of AI to ensure alignment with firmwide standards and governance
- Collaborate with AI Learning Counsel and Learning & Development to design and deliver practical, experience-based training programs.
- Collaborate with other Legal Technology Lawyers supporting similar practices and Knowledge and Practice Innovation lawyers to:
- Promote best practices and ensure consistency across the Firm
- Identify high-value corporate or litigation related use cases and emerging opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and client value through AI.
- Capture and share insights from live matter experience to inform broader rollout, training, and continuous improvement across the Firm.
- Participate in requirements gathering, design and implementation planning for existing or new AI workflows, solutions and technology.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- At least three (3) years of corporate or litigation related practice experience at a leading law firm.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to use logic to solve complex problems.
- Strong interest in legal technology, innovation, the practical application of AI in legal work and applying technical solutions to standardize legal processes. Familiarity with and affinity for general practice tools, general AI applications, and legal AI applications.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and influencing skills, with credibility among practicing lawyers, combined with excellent organizational skills, and rigorous attention to detail. Ability to facilitate small and large group meetings, training and working sessions.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and sound professional judgment in assessing where AI adds value and where traditional legal judgment remains essential.
- LLB, BCL or J.D. required; B.Comm or MBA is an asset. Must be a member in good standing with the applicable provincial Law Society.
- Fluency in both English and French is an asset.
- Ability to balance competing demands, demonstrated good business judgment, and experience working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Vancouver (1 litigation)
- Toronto (1 corporate / 1 litigation)
- Montreal (1 litigation)
- Johannesburg (1 corporate / litigation)
Internal applicants can be in this role for one year before returning to practice, should they like.
Pay Range
$140,000 to $185,000 per annum. Pay range to be commensurate with experience.
