Job description

Job Title: Appian Tech lead

Location: Toronto, ON

Work Model: Hybrid

Employment Type: Full-Time (FTE)

Experience: 10 Years

Appian Certified Lead Developer

Strong hands-on experience in Appian low code platform development.

Expertise in:

  • SAIL interfaces, dynamic UI design, and responsive layouts.
  • Process Models (complex workflows, error handling, sub process design).
  • Record Types (data sync, relationships, record actions, security).

  • Advanced proficiency in Appian Expression Language and rule design.
  • Experience with CDTs, Data Stores, and relational database concepts (SQL, joins, indexing) .
  • Strong experience in integration design and implementation:
  • REST / SOAP services
  • Connected systems and authentication (OAuth, API keys)
  • JSON mapping and transformation
  • Hands on experience with Appian IDP / AI Skills (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Appian security model (groups, roles, record security)
  • Experience in performance optimization and application tuning
  • Knowledge of Appian deployment, packaging, and environment management
  • Understanding of BPMN concepts, workflow orchestration, and case management
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket)

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of enterprise Appian applications
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and architecture
  • Define and enforce Appian development standards and best practices
  • Design end to end workflows, integrations, and data models
  • Review and approve technical designs, code, and solution architecture
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure alignment with requirements
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical risks
  • Oversee application deployments across environments (Dev, QA, Prod)
  • Lead troubleshooting of complex production issues
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, and enterprise standards
  • Drive continuous improvement and adoption of new Appian features and capabilities

  • Ability to lead and manage cross functional teams
  • Commendable communication skills to own the delivery end to end
  • Strong experience in task planning, estimation, and sprint execution (Agile/Scrum)
  • Mentor and coach junior developers and team members
  • Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language
  • Proactive risk identification, issue management, and escalation handling
  • Experience in resource planning and workload distribution
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting UAT, release management, and post production support
