What You’ll Be Doing

Global Operational Risk Management helps safeguard the bank by strengthening how we identify, assess, and manage operational risk across the enterprise. As a Director, Operational Risk Programs, you’ll lead the enterprise-wide Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program, overseeing the framework, planning, execution, guidance, and governance needed to meet regulatory expectations and support meaningful change. You’ll drive regulatory initiatives by shaping the program methodology and end-to-end process, while clearly communicating the strategy and execution plan to stakeholders across the organization to build alignment and executive support. In addition, you’ll provide leadership over the RCSA module within the enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (eGRC) system, with a focus on automation, simplification, solution analysis, testing, and change management. Through your leadership of the RCSA team, you’ll help advance program objectives and foster strong, productive collaboration.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Program Leadership and Governance - Lead the enterprise-wide RCSA Program, including framework design, execution planning, governance, and guidance development to support strong operational risk practices and regulatory alignment.
  • Strategy Implementation - Drive the strategic transformation of the program methodology and end-to-end process, translating regulatory expectations into clear, practical actions and sustainable improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment - Build support across executive stakeholders, business partners, and working groups by communicating strategy, priorities, and progress in a clear and compelling way.
  • Technology and Innovation - Oversee the RCSA module within the eGRC system and lead efforts related to automation, simplification, solution analysis, testing, and user adoption.
  • Advanced Analytics Enablement - Partner with the Advanced Analytics team to lead initiatives that use AI solutions to improve efficiency and increase capacity across operational risk management functions.
  • Team Leadership and Development – Coach, mentor and develop a high-performing team, creating an environment of accountability and collaboration.

Who You Are

  • You’re a strategic leader. You can set direction for complex programs, connect day-to-day execution to broader business and regulatory priorities, and guide teams through change with confidence.
  • You demonstrate experience in operational risk, risk programs, governance, controls, or a related area, with experience leading enterprise-level initiatives. It’s an asset if you have experience in managing the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program or other enterprise-wide program.
  • You act like an owner. You thrive when you’re empowered to take the lead, go above and beyond, and deliver results.
  • You’re technically confident. You have knowledge of enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) solutions and can contribute to system-related initiatives involving automation, system design and solution, testing, and process improvement.
  • You’re an effective communicator. You can translate complex concepts into clear messaging, influence stakeholders at different levels, and build alignment across cross-functional groups.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
