Cardiac Sonographer Echo Technologist

This is a part-time role scheduled primarily for Saturdays during regular clinic hours (6:30am - 6pm) for an 8.5 hour shift at our Oakville clinic.

Our Oakville clinic is located at 2275 Upper Middle Road E. There is free parking on site.

There will be a requirement to travel to our downtown Toronto clinic early on for training in Echo CIMT and FibroScans.

What Youll Do:

• Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct echo sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease sterilization and patient safety protocols policies and procedures.

• Perform Resting Echo Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and FibroScans for patients.

• Reviews patient medical history and supporting clinical information.

• Ensures that the order (or standing order) is complete and contains relevant information.

• Evaluates any contraindications or insufficient patient preparation and obtains patients consent to the exam.

• Uses proper positioning tools devices or equipment adjustment both for patient comfort and ergonomics of the sonographer.

• Applies independent professional ethical judgment and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic echo sonography procedure(s) and documents all findings.

• Operates the PACS as needed so that the reporting physician may report findings.

• As necessary acquires additional images to provide a thorough exam and documents any limitations to the exam.

• Performs quality control procedures and exercises caution to ensure that the equipment operates at optimal levels.

• Ensures that the echo sonography examination results meet the facility standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation

• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

• Assists with facilitating the flow of patients through the Clinic

• Coordinates with other clinic staff to ensure exceptional delivery of service and client experience

• Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with co-workers administrators and members of the health care team.

• Other client service or administrative functions as-needed

What Youll Need:

• Completion of a recognized post diploma Echocardiography program

• At least one year of recent experience as an Echo Sonographer

• CMRITO Specialty certification for Echocardiography

• Experience with Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and FibroScan an asset

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficient in MS Word and Outlook and PACS

Position Pay Range

$35.43 - $48.72 CAD per hour

Pay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidates experience and qualifications within the roles compensation grade. Medcans compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills market value and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks benefits and potential bonuses or incentives.
