Job description
EBC thinks outside the box and deploys all its know-how to carry out major infrastructure projects: bridges roads highways tunnels marine installations. Our ability to meet deadlines and budgets as well as our vast expertise in the field allow us to actively participate in large-scale projects such as the Samuel-De-Champlain Bridge the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) and the Site C hydro-electric power station located near Fort St-John in British Columbia.

Our seasoned team of engineers project managers and other specialists also put their energy into the construction of wind farms and to the benefit of hydroelectric projects such as dams power stations tunnels and dikes. The Senior Estimator is responsible for the accurate timely preparation of multiple construction estimates and budgets of varying complexity and size for our clients. This position plays a key role in helping the team maintain its leading reputation in the industry and in continuing its rapid growth. The Senior Estimator estimates conceptual design-build cost plus lump sum and construction management projects as well as works with the project team through to project design tendering and vendor procurement.

As a Senior Estimator with our Civil Team you will:

  • Be responsible for all estimating aspects of the Tendering process;
  • Review tender documents to determine the scope of work including project milestones and constraints;
  • Be responsible for having a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the tender documents drawings specifications and addendum;
  • Provide detailed estimates with complete quantity take-off including the scope of work;
  • Build level 1 schedule in MS Project with resources and project milestones;
  • Prepare final estimate summaries analyzing each section for scope pricing and completeness;
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate data including current and accurate information on prices from suppliers;
  • Participate in post-bid interviews with operations team;
  • Provide leadership and establish and maintain compelling and harmonious relationships with all staff;
  • Increase EBCs brand and visibility in the GTA Market;
  • Assist the Senior or Chief Estimator and the Director to ensure EBC meets the various milestones;
  • Establish and keep outstanding communications between subcontractors suppliers and consultants;
  • Ensure chair internal bid review meetings with EBCs senior management.


Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering;
  • Previous experience in estimating civil construction projects;
  • Experience in heavy civil pricing work such as cofferdams shoring road construction bridge rehabilitation in-water works;
  • Experience using estimating software and systems and capacity to adapt to new estimating software;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task;
  • Experience with TPL Estimating software would be considered an asset;
  • Advanced skills in management negotiation communication and problem-solving;
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work;
  • Estimate setup for job costing and job cost analysis of active and completed projects.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role which is $95000 - $145000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience qualifications localization and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBCs comprehensive total rewards offering which may include performance-based incentives extended health and wellness benefits retirement savings programs and career development opportunities.
