Data Governance Manager

The Role in a Nutshell

The Data Governance Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring that Data Governance and Data Architecture remain tightly aligned with GreenShield’s Enterprise Architecture Operating Model. This role ensures that regulatory, compliance, privacy, and data security considerations are embedded into all new technology architectures adopted by the organization.

This position requires strong cross-functional leadership across all lines of business—including Security, Privacy, Compliance, Risk, IT, People & Culture, and Finance—to continually advance GreenShield’s data management maturity, measured against the DAMA-DMBOK framework.

Governance & Assessment

• Lead and conduct Data and AI Impact Assessments for all new projects, initiatives, partnerships, and technologies prior to Architecture Review Board evaluation.
• Collaborate with the AI Centre of Excellence and Enterprise Architecture to ensure assessments align with enterprise technology and service strategy.
• Drive enterprise-wide improvement of Data Governance maturity, measured against DAMA-DMBOK standards.

External & Client-Facing Responsibilities

• Lead Data Governance and Privacy contributions for RFP responses in support of new client opportunities.
• Provide Data Privacy and Data Security responses for recurring client questionnaires, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment to GreenShield’s security posture.

Strategic Leadership

• Ensure regulatory, compliance, privacy, and security considerations are embedded in the design of all technology architectures.
• Partner with leaders across business units to ensure ongoing alignment with data governance policies, practices, and architectural requirements.
• Support the evolution of data governance frameworks, standards, and policies across the enterprise.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Science
• 15 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Architecture, Information Security, or related domains.
• Strong understanding of Enterprise Architectural Frameworks.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Cloud Data and Software Architecture (i.e. GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Deep knowledge of Data Governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
• Expertise in Data Security standards, regulatory compliance, and privacy requirements.
• Ability to design, validate, and support agentic AI use cases.
• Strong critical thinking with the ability to find simple, efficient solutions within complex and ambiguous environments.
• Exceptional executive communication skills.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams and reporting structures.
• Master's Degree in Business Administration
• CDMP, DCAM, CISSP, CISA or TOGAF
