Job description

Summary:

Mircom is seeking a highly skilled Master Planner to play a pivotal role in connecting demand (Sales/Customer Service) with supply (Production, Purchasing, and Warehousing) across our Canadian, U.S., and international operations. In this senior planning position, you will own the development and maintenance of the master plan that keeps our business running smoothly—ensuring every customer order is delivered on time, production teams have uninterrupted access to raw materials, and inventory and capacity are optimized to meet service expectations.

You will be recognized as the D365 MRP expert, leading SIOP and forecasting activities and turning Mircom’s commercial and operational strategies into clear, actionable production, purchasing, and transfer plans. This is a high-impact role where your planning expertise directly shapes performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across our global network. This is a full-time, in person position based out of our head office in Vaughan, ON.

Key Responsibilities:

Master Planning & SIOP

  • Develop, maintain, and execute the master production and material plan across all production facilities (e.g., Vaughan, Montreal) and distribution points.
  • Produce and maintain the base demand forecast and coordinate the SIOP process with Sales, Product Management, Operations, and Finance to arrive at an agreed demand and supply plan.
  • Translate the approved forecast into manufacturing plans, purchasing requirements, and transfer requirements for all facilities.
  • Balance demand vs. capacity and material availability, making trade‑off recommendations on delivery dates, inventory, and revenue.

Material Planning & Supply Assurance

  • Ensure continuity of raw material supply to all production facilities by monitoring demand, inventory, open POs, open MOs, and transfers.
  • Use D365 MRP to generate and review planned orders, and convert them into executable production, purchase, and transfer orders with the right priorities.
  • Identify and resolve BOM shortages (raw materials, boards, subassemblies, finished goods) and drive appropriate corrective actions with Purchasing and Production.
  • Approve orders within the manufacturing time fence and manage changes to sales orders and purchase orders that affect the master plan.

Inventory, KPI Management & Reporting

  • Own finished goods and key component inventory planning targets (e.g., minimum stock, safety stock) across locations, balancing working capital and service levels.
  • Monitor and report on key supply chain and planning KPIs, including: Backorders and service levels Shortages and constraint visibility Forecast accuracy and bias New product introduction readiness and end‑of‑life/obsolescence risk
  • Provide regular order planning, BOM shortage, and backorder reports that drive daily/weekly actions for Production, Purchasing, and Warehousing.

Systems, Data, and Process Improvement

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for D365 MRP configuration related to planning (e.g., item coverage settings, lead times, min/max, order policies).
  • Develop and maintain material planning tools and reports (primarily in D365 and Excel) that improve visibility and decision‑making.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects to: Improve KPIs (backorders, on‑time delivery, inventory turns) Enhance data integrity and master data quality Streamline planning processes and standardize best‑practice procedures
  • Train MRP users in planning processes, system use, and data discipline.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Sales/Customer Service, Product Management, Engineering, Finance, and Executive leadership to ensure alignment between demand and supply.
  • Clearly communicate constraints, risks, and proposed recovery plans (e.g., part shortages, capacity limits, NPI impacts).
  • Negotiate and agree on realistic delivery dates and revenue plans based on the master plan and constraints.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent supply chain/planning designation preferred.
  • Additional training in SIOP/S&OP, demand planning, or advanced MRP/ERP systems is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in master production scheduling, material planning, or supply chain planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of SIOP/S&OP processes and demand planning/forecasting best practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute master production and material plans across multiple plants and warehouses.
  • Hands-on expertise with MRP/ERP systems, preferably Microsoft D365, including configuration of item coverage, lead times, min/max, and order policies.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience building planning reports, tools, and dashboards.
  • Solid understanding of BOM structures, manufacturing lead times, and end-to-end supply chain flows (raw materials to finished goods).
  • Demonstrated ability to balance demand, capacity, and material availability, making data-driven trade-off decisions on delivery, inventory, and revenue.
  • Experience managing and optimizing inventory targets (safety stock, min/max levels) while balancing working capital and service levels.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience tracking and improving KPIs (e.g., backorders, service levels, forecast accuracy, inventory turns).
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve material shortages and constraints by working closely with Purchasing, Production, and Warehousing.
  • Experience with NPI (new product introduction) and end-of-life/obsolescence planning.
  • Strong data integrity mindset and experience improving master data quality.
  • Continuous improvement orientation, with experience leading or supporting process-improvement initiatives in planning or supply chain.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly explain constraints, risks, and recovery plans to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with a track record of cross-functional work with Sales, Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Product Management.
  • Ability to negotiate and agree realistic delivery dates and revenue plans based on capacity and material constraints.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort training and coaching others on planning processes, MRP usage, and data discipline.
