Job description

We’re building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world. We need talented, passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Director, ALM Measurement & Insights is responsible for driving Treasury’s ALM duties, including risk measurement, commentary and explanation of changes in risk measurement, insights into balance sheet trends, strategic balance sheet positioning recommendations, and enabling business strategies by providing expert ALM expertise to our partners and the broader Treasury team.

You’ll be strategic partners with colleagues in Treasury, Finance, Risk, and Technology to ensure that our infrastructure meets the requirements for sound ALM measurement and management. You’ll also act as the lead across these cross-functional teams on both strategic and tactical opportunities.

At CIBC, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Infrastructure Design & Implementation – Lead the future-state design of interest rate risk measurement infrastructure (QRM), ensuring business requirements support legal entity views, balance sheet insights, customer behavior, and alignment with core measurement systems. Partner with Treasury, Risk Management, and Technology teams to drive consistent outcomes.
  • Insights & Strategy – Support the development of executive- and committee-level materials with clear, decision-oriented insights. Assess structural interest rate risk positioning across scenarios and design reporting that highlights key balance sheet trends and vulnerabilities.
  • Risk Measurement – Own business requirements for key interest rate risk measures, including DV01, Earnings at Risk, and Economic Value of Equity. Provide subject matter expertise on new products, valuation approaches, and measurement assumptions, while partnering with Analytics, Finance, and Technology teams on production oversight and issue resolution.
  • Decomposition & Analysis – Lead analysis and reporting that supports effective risk management and strategic decision-making. Provide expert insight into movements in EVE, EAR, and DV01, support ad hoc investigations, and develop prototype reporting for non-trading balance sheet risk exposures.
  • Regulatory & Internal Compliance – Serve as a subject matter expert on Treasury infrastructure and support responses to Internal Audit and regulatory matters. Monitor market, regulatory, and business developments, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations for senior management.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the banking industry and products, with over 7 years of relevant experience in measuring or managing interest rate risk. In addition, you have strong analytical, problem solving, communication and decision making skills, along with experience with business applications (QRM, SQL applications, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • It's an asset if you have experience and knowledge of CIBC financial and management accounting systems, along with understanding and knowledge within the scope of CIBC’s parent bank, subsidiaries, and foreign branches.
  • You look beyond the moment. You make decisions and take actions that will make a difference today and tomorrow for the programs and the team. You proactively seek new opportunities to define what's possible.
  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork and accountability.

What CIBC Offers

At CIBC, your goals are a priority. We start with your strengths and ambitions as an employee and strive to create opportunities to tap into your potential. We aspire to give you a career, rather than just a paycheck.

  • We work to recognize you in meaningful, personalized ways including a competitive salary, incentive pay, banking benefits, a benefits program*, defined benefit pension plan*, an employee share purchase plan, a vacation offering, wellbeing support, and MomentMakers, our social, points-based recognition program.
  • Our spaces and technological toolkit will make it simple to bring together great minds to create innovative solutions that make a difference for our clients.
  • We cultivate a culture where you can express your ambition through initiatives like Purpose Day; a paid day off dedicated for you to use to invest in your growth and development.
  • Subject to plan and program terms and conditions

What You Need To Know

  • CIBC is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all team members and clients feel like they belong. We seek applicants with a wide range of abilities and we provide an accessible candidate experience. If you need accommodation, please contact Mailbox.careers-carrieres@cibc.com
  • CIBC is committed to clarity in our hiring process. All roles posted are opportunities we’re actively recruiting for, unless stated otherwise.
  • You need to be legally eligible to work at the location(s) specified above and, where applicable, must have a valid work or study permit.
  • We may ask you to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills test (such as simulation, coding, French proficiency).
