The role:

Leads and oversees Procurement process & application management ensuring the design, maintenance, and governance of business solutions are aligned to best practice procurement process, specific goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the department’s business strategies and objectives. Implements controls within Procurement business solutions, safeguarding consistency, compliance, and operational effectiveness across the source-to-settle lifecycle. Through data‑driven insights and cross‑functional collaboration, the role enables sustainable process improvements and strengthens procurement risk management and governance maturity.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Lead projects to design, build, and implement Procure to Pay business solutions aligned to enterprise policies and standards
• Identify ways to expand and improve the Procure to Pay process through the delivery of business solutions based on an understanding of adjacent policies and procedures, that enhance the user experience, build capabilities, and enhance governance controls.
• Develop and maintains expertise in out-of-the-box business capabilities of Procure to Pay technology solutions such as Coupa P2P.
• Manage and evaluates maintenance requests of Procure to Pay systems to determine the priority, document the business requirements, and secure funding for implementation. Planning requires coordination with IT and business stakeholders.
• Manage initiative(s) and be responsible for on-time and on-schedule delivery while ensuring change management plans are socialized, approved, and effective for all programs, projects and initiatives involved.
• Oversee communications for status reporting of assigned initiatives, programs, and regular compliance monitoring ensuring timely, consistent, delivery, with appropriate insights included.
• Support and contributes to the creation of product roadmaps including strategic and tactical initiatives, to enable the vision and achieve strategic goals and objectives of the department
• Define, prioritize, business cases, budgets, schedules and deliver initiatives through their team to align with the business strategy and meet the department strategic needs as it relates to Procure to Pay process and tools.
• Lead, supervise, and assign Cross Functional Initiatives across the department to deliver sound procurement practices.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Build a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours, communicating vison/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Do you have the skills to succeed in this role?

• Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or related field; master (MA or MSc) in business or related field preferred
• 6 - 8 years’ previous experience in program management, project management, financial services, or procurement related field
• Expertise in procurement process design within a financial or similar organization.
• Previously managed or acted as owner of business application(s)
• Spanish and French language proficiency is beneficial to the role but not mandatory
• Experience in project management methodology including techniques for project delivery, reporting, escalation, change management, and postmortem lessons learned
• Understand the objectives of procurement practices including supplier negotiation, third-party risk management, purchasing, ongoing supplier performance management, and payments
• Excellent stakeholder management skills including Control Functions, Legal, and Executive leadership
• Proven ability to lead multiple priorities, adapt to constantly changing business environment, and drive projects to completion
• Knowledgeable in financial services and regulations (e.g., OSFI, OCC, CFPB, UDAAP) and how they are applied to third party relationships
