Job description

Summary of Duties:

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead the advancement of Spiritual Care within an interprofessional context. This individual will be a key member of the organizations innovative professional practice structure across all programs and all four Sunnybrook campuses. Reporting to the Director of Interprofessional Practice the Professional Leader promotes Sunnybrooks missionvisionand values across the organization to provide the highest quality person-centeredcare. The ideal candidate is passionate about the importance of innovative professional practice interprofessional teamwork best practices quality improvement continuing education/professional development the student experience academic scholarship anddemonstratesa commitment to the communities we serve.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Developimplementand evaluate profession specific standards that advance the vision and strategic goals of SHSC

  • Act as a role model and mentor to promote continued development of all staff

  • Representsprofessional interests in collaboration with a variety of internal and external interprofessional committees and initiatives.

  • Develop and implement profession specific quality improvement activities

  • Accountable for compliance with profession specific standards to provide quality of carein accordance withthe Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario (CRPO).

  • Advance the Spiritual Care Vision and Road Map

  • Represent the profession and professional practice within the hospital and the community

  • Promote and support the professional and academic development of staff

  • Facilitate support andparticipatein research scholarship and evidence-based health careincluding quality improvement activities

  • Participate in and promote Interprofessional Education Activities

  • Coordinatelearneropportunities in collaboration with the universities and professional associations offer guidance with respect to any placement issues support faculty development/preceptor education andfacilitatemeans tooptimizethe student and teacher experience including actingas the site coordinator for clinical placements and other clinical education opportunities

  • Drive the academic mandate byidentifyinggrowth opportunities potential external partnerships and innovative care models in collaboration with the Department of Equity and Social Accountability

  • Provide leadership and advancement for the profession via the Professional Council for Spiritual Care

  • Collaborate with externalfaith-basedpartners to ensure quality and responsive care.

  • Ensures worship services and religious space meet the needs and wishes of people from multifaith backgrounds.

Education Supervisor responsibilities include:

  • Facilitates and supervises Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) on all levels (basic advanced specialist and supervisory education).

  • Upholds andmaintainsstandards for approved programs and accredited CPE Centres by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC).

  • Ensures multi-faith education to develop cultural competency among staff and students.

  • Facilitates the continuing education of the spiritual and religious care team.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Masters of Divinityor equivalent degree

  • Additionaleducation in Leadership and/or Adult Education would be an asset

  • Registered and in good standing with the CanadianAssociationof Spiritual Care (CASC)

  • Minimum five (5) years broad experience in spiritual care practice

  • Experience in a healthcare or hospital setting would be preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a variety of stakeholders and team members

  • Self-directed strong critical thinking change managementproblem-solvingand organizational skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and to take initiative and leadership whenappropriate.

  • Proven effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation thatimpactshealth carepractices.

  • Commitment to student learners and overseeing the Education of spiritual care learners

  • Research/academic scholarship/quality improvement experience would be an asset
