Instructional Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION: $30-$34/hour - 6 month contract - Hybrid

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining engaging, effective learning solutions that support business goals, employee performance, and organizational change initiatives. This role partners closely with business leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), project teams, and change management professionals to translate complex information into impactful learning experiences.

The ideal candidate is a creative and detail-oriented learning professional with experience in adult learning principles, curriculum design, eLearning development, facilitator-led training, and performance support tools. They possess strong communication and project management skills and can independently manage multiple learning initiatives in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, and blended learning solutions

• Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts to assess learning needs and define training requirements

• Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create effective training programs

• Develop learning objectives, curricula, course content, assessments, and evaluation strategies

• Create engaging learner experiences using various instructional techniques and technologies

• Build and maintain eLearning modules, videos, simulations, job aids, and other learning assets

• Support organizational transformation, process changes, system implementations, and operational readiness initiatives through training design

• Conduct training needs analyses and identify performance improvement opportunities

• Manage multiple training projects, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations

• Evaluate learning effectiveness and recommend improvements based on learner feedback and business outcomes

• Ensure all training materials align with organizational standards, branding, accessibility, and compliance requirements

• Stay current on emerging learning technologies, instructional design trends, and best practices

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Desired Experience & Skills

We are looking for candidates with:

• 3-5 years of instructional design, learning and development, training, or curriculum development experience

• Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, Agile Learning Design, or similar frameworks)

• Experience developing learning solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences

• Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms

• Experience developing instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced learning programs

• Strong writing, communication, editing, and storytelling skills

• Excellent stakeholder management and consultation capabilities

• Ability to translate complex business processes, systems, and concepts into clear learning solutions

• Experience measuring training effectiveness and using feedback to improve learning outcomes

• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

• Experience working within large organizations and cross-functional environments

• Financial services experience is preferred
