  • Developing complete technical Scopes of Work for rolling stock renovation and overhaul projects based on customer and system requirements.
  • Creating and reviewing 3D models, 2D deliverables, and Bill of Materials in compliance with quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) commitments.
  • Preparing and documenting Mechanical Design Reviews for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Designing products that meet project requirements, including manufacturability, serviceability, and testability.
  • Reporting on mechanical activities progress and addressing issues that could impact QCD commitments.
  • Providing technical support to production teams and customers, ensuring smooth project execution.

All About You

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering or 2+ years in railway or railcar products (e.g., locomotives, rail passenger cars).
  • Knowledge of metallic materials, industrial processes (such as welding, bending, machining), and familiarity with AWS welding codes.
  • Required work experience in Catia v5 (at least 3+ years or 5000 hours).
  • Preferred experience in PDM/PLM systems (e.g., Enovia‑DMA, 3DCom).
  • Experience in overhaul projects and reverse engineering is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a team‑oriented mindset.
  • Time management skills and a structured, hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.
  • Fluency in English.
  • P. Eng. certification (or in progress).

Things you’ll enjoy

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long‑term career free from boring daily routines
  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and supportive colleagues
  • Contribute to innovative projects that impact communities
  • Utilise our dynamic and inclusive working environment
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award‑winning learning
  • Progress towards leadership or technical expertise roles
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $85,000 – $110,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
