Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION Department:Rail Job Title:Rail Loader Facility:Oakville Reports to:Terminal Manager AWC Operations Canada (AWCC) performs many logistics functions. Some of these are real time yard management, real time data transfers, real time vehicle direct locating, dealer delivery, import / export preparations, rail car preparation and switching, rail car loading and unloading, and extensive assembly plant operations. Summary of Position:Rail Loaders are responsible for driving customers finished product onto bi-level and/or tri-level rail cars and securing the vehicles for transportation, as well as shuttling vehicles within the AWCC yard. This document is designed to provide a general overview of the requirements of the position and does not entail a comprehensive list of all activities, duties or responsibilities that will be required for this position. In addition, these activities, duties, or responsibilities may change and will be periodically updated. Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks:Ensure all required rail yard safety measures and protections are in place before starting work.Install and remove bridge plates between the rail cars as required.Move, position, stage, and load vehicles within the yard and railcars in accordance with established procedures.Park and stage vehicles following established quality standards.Safely perform vehicle loading and unloading activities.Secure vehicles for transport using approved methods, equipment, and quality standards.Safely access, move throughout, and exit railcars, including climbing ladders and working at elevated heights as required.Conduct pre-use inspections of loading equipment and report any issues or concerns.Check vehicles for damage and report findings to a Supervisor or Manager.Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment, this includes tooling, work vans, rail yard, etc.Work and communicate effectively with team members and supervision to support daily operations.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
