We are seeking a highly accomplished Business / Information Architect for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in North York (Toronto). In this role, you will take on a premier architectural and strategic leadership capacity within the enterprise architecture stream, specializing in current-state assessments, business capability modeling, gap analysis, and information architecture solution designs.
As a principal business and information authority, you will bridge the gap between core corporate business priorities, regulatory compliance frameworks, and technical execution. Operating within a hybrid work model, you will define robust information architecture patterns, establish data protection controls aligned with privacy legislation, and construct strategic solution blueprints for review by executive governance bodies. This position demands a seasoned architect who can confidently evaluate emerging technology integrations, guide vendor solutions, and collaborate with application, systems, and security architecture peers.

ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive business and information architecture assessments, diagnosing gaps in existing capabilities and recommending strategic enhancements.
Design target-state business and information architectures that align enterprise frameworks with industry standards, corporate objectives, and privacy legislation.
Map corporate business priorities into actionable information strategies, technology roadmaps, and governed technical innovations.
Develop business organization models, capability maps, workflow diagrams, structured/unstructured data models, and architectural blueprints.
Participate in risk assessments for new information systems, evaluating security vulnerabilities, inherent weaknesses, and privacy compliance requirements.
Author options papers, architecture vision documents, and reference blueprints, presenting and defending proposed solutions before the Architecture Review Board (ARB).
Support Business Analysts in requirements elicitation and business process mapping to ensure alignment with information governance standards.
Assist in developing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, identifying critical functions required to restore essential processes promptly.
Evaluate third-party vendor products, software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms, and procurement documents (RFPs/SOWs) to ensure architectural fit.
Define and document the impact of introducing new business models or information systems on the existing environment.
Maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, definitions, and handoff assets to ensure continuous operational support.
QualificationsCore Requirements & Architectural Experience
Education: University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
Senior Architecture Tenure: Minimum of ten (10) years of senior-level architecture experience, with at least ten (10) years dedicated specifically to Business and Information Architecture.
Modeling & Data Topology Depth: Extensive experience in business capability modeling, structured and unstructured data topologies, relational databases, Entity Relationship (ER) diagramming, and reference modeling.
Modern Tech & AI Integration: Hands-on experience with ethical AI planning, Microsoft Copilot, information systems integration, and Microsoft database technologies (including MS SQL, Fabric, and Power BI).
SaaS & Enterprise Tooling: Practical knowledge of enterprise SaaS and business systems, including Yardi, ServiceNow, and Dayforce platforms.
Privacy & Legislative Compliance: Strong understanding of privacy legislation, regulatory compliance mandates (such as MFIPPA, FIPPA, PIPEDA, HIPAA, and Ontario Human Rights Code), and information security controls.
Downstream Architecture Knowledge: Functional understanding of downstream application, infrastructure, and security architecture domains and best practices.
Continuity & Risk Management: Solid understanding of risk management processes, risk assessments, business continuity planning, and disaster recovery architectures.
Public Sector Experience: Proven background delivering enterprise architecture solutions within public sector or complex multi-stakeholder organizations.
Clearance: Ability to pass a Level 1 Canadian Criminal Record Check.
Preferred Assets & Certifications
Professional Certifications: Active certification in TOGAF (or equivalent), ITIL (or equivalent), or DP-900 Azure Data Fundamentals.
Compliance & Governance Tooling: Experience using compliance and governance engines (such as Microsoft Purview and Master Data Management solutions).
Information Management: Familiarity with enterprise content management systems, retention/archiving workflows, and SharePoint environments.
