Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced AWS Senior Migration Engineer to lead the assessment, planning, migration, modernization, and optimization of enterprise workloads to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will drive cloud adoption initiatives, execute large-scale migration programs, and collaborate with architects, developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to deliver successful cloud transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Migration & Transformation

• Lead end-to-end cloud migration projects from on-premises, private cloud, and other cloud platforms to AWS.
• Perform application and infrastructure discovery, dependency mapping, and migration assessments.
• Create migration runbooks, cutover plans, and rollback procedures.
• Execute migration waves while minimizing business disruption.

AWS Infrastructure Design

• Design secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments.
• Build and support AWS services including:
  • Amazon EC2
  • Amazon VPC
  • Amazon S3
  • Amazon EBS
  • Route 53
  • Elastic Load Balancer (ELB)
  • Auto Scaling
• Implement multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations and AWS Control Tower.

Migration Tools & Services

• Utilize AWS migration services including:
  • AWS Migration Hub
  • AWS Application Migration Service (MGN)
  • AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
  • AWS DataSync
  • AWS Transfer Family
  • AWS Snow Family
• Automate migration processes and reporting.

Infrastructure Automation

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using:
  • Terraform
  • AWS CloudFormation
  • AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit)
• Develop automation scripts using:
  • Python
  • PowerShell
  • Bash
  • AWS CLI
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes.

Security & Compliance

• Implement AWS security best practices.
• Manage:
  • IAM Roles & Policies
  • AWS KMS
  • AWS Secrets Manager
  • AWS Security Hub
  • AWS GuardDuty
  • AWS Config
• Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and security requirements.
• Conduct security reviews and remediation planning.

Database Migration

• Perform database migrations using AWS DMS and native migration methods.
• Conduct migration validation and performance tuning.

Monitoring & Operations

• Configure and manage:
  • Amazon CloudWatch
  • AWS CloudTrail
  • AWS Config
  • AWS X-Ray
• Troubleshoot migration-related issues.
• Perform performance tuning and post-migration optimization.

Cost Optimization

• Assess cloud costs and optimize AWS resource consumption.
• Implement FinOps best practices.
• Utilize:
  • AWS Cost Explorer
  • AWS Trusted Advisor
  • Savings Plans
  • Reserved Instances
• Recommend ongoing cost optimization strategies.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead migration workshops and technical discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers and migration specialists.
• Collaborate with application owners, architects, and project managers.
• Prepare migration reports and dashboards.
• Participate in cloud governance and Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Experience

• 8+ years of IT infrastructure and cloud engineering experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on AWS engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading enterprise cloud migration initiatives.
• Experience migrating large-scale production environments to AWS.
