Job description
On behalf of our top-tier banking client, we are seeking a detail-oriented Trade Finance Analyst II (SBLC & Guarantees) for a 1-year contract position with strong potential for extension or conversion.

In this role, you will play a key part in the Global Trade Finance Operations group. You will handle administrative duties, issue and advise new Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs) and Bank Guarantees, review guarantee texts, manage workflow, and ensure complete compliance with trade finance Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards. This role requires an initial 5-day onsite training period, after which it transitions to a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Role Title: Trade Finance Analyst II – SBLC / Guarantees

Position Type: 1-Year Contract (Extension and Conversion Possible)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Occasional holiday coverage on a rotational basis to support US/UK business)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (First 3 months: 5 days onsite for training. Post-training: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Primary Location: Montréal, QC (Bilingual preference). Secondary options include Toronto, ON, Calgary, AB, or Vancouver, BC.

Responsibilities
Transaction Processing: Draft, issue, advise, and amend various types of SBLCs and Bank Guarantees; handle related correspondence and requests.

Guarantee Text Review: Review text requested by clients and provide expert feedback directly to clients or Relationship Managers.

Operations & Workflow Management: Prioritize, track, and distribute daily operational requests among team members to ensure optimal efficiency and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

AML & Compliance: Perform due diligence on all transactions following trade finance AML procedures, internal policies, and regulatory guidelines.

Reporting & Advisory: Participate in monthly reconciliation and reporting tasks, deliver technical advice to internal partners/clients, and assist in identifying operational risks or gaps.

Release & Control: Release transactions in line with team volumes and strictly maintain appropriate controls to minimize risk.

Qualifications
Education: Post-secondary education in Finance, International Business, or a related field preferred.

Experience: 3 to 5 years of overall operational experience, with at least 3 years directly within Global Trade Finance Operations focusing on SBLCs and Bank Guarantees.

Certifications
Top Preference: Certified Specialist in Demand Guarantees (CSDG)

Second Preference: Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS)

Hard Skills & Knowledge
In-depth expertise in Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs) and Bank Guarantees.

Deep knowledge of ICC rules and practices governing trade finance: UCP 600, ISP 98, and URDG 758.

Strong knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures and trade finance due diligence requirements.

Familiarity with TF360 software is a strong asset.

Soft Skills & Language
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and French (Bilingualism is strongly preferred). Spanish is a bonus asset.

Client Service: Proven track record in relationship management and providing client-focused technical advice.

Adaptability & Teamwork: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment and manage high volumes efficiently.
