Job description

Shape the conferences, speakers and content that keep CPA Ontario’s Professional Development portfolio relevant to the evolving needs of the profession.

CPA Ontario is not like other organizations

We operate at a rare intersection, both regulator and membership body, responsible for upholding the integrity of the CPA designation while supporting more than 105,000 members and 19,000 students across the province. Our work sits between business and the public interest, between the evolving demands of industry and the standards that make trust possible.

Careers built here tend to look different because the work itself is different. You are not simply contributing to an organization. You are helping shape a profession that touches nearly every sector of the economy at a moment when expectations, technology, and the nature of work are all being rewritten.

About This Opportunity:

As Product and Content Specialist, you will lead research, planning, development and execution for CPA Ontario’s Professional Development Conference Portfolio, ensuring programs remain relevant, engaging and aligned to the evolving needs of the profession. This is an opportunity for a curious, strategic and well-connected content professional who thrives at the intersection of research, relationship-building and program design, and is energized by translating insights into meaningful learning experiences for members. Through ongoing engagement with subject matter experts, industry leaders, regulators, and members, you will build and maintain a strong network of content contributors while identifying opportunities to extend successful conference topics into other professional development offerings, including seminars, certificates, and on-demand learning.

Working closely with Product, Marketing, Events, Operations and Sponsorship, you will help play a key role in shaping and delivering a high-quality conference portfolio and supporting the development of future learning opportunities.

Some travel and occasional early morning or evening hours may be required to support conference execution.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own the development of the annual conference content plan and content pipeline for CPA Ontario’s Conference Portfolio, working closely with the Director, Product Strategy & Innovation and key stakeholders to identify emerging trends, member needs, regulatory developments and business issues that inform conference themes, agenda topics and future content opportunities.
  • Lead ongoing market research and stakeholder engagement to identify content, speaker and product opportunities, including environmental scans, competitive analysis and industry research; review attendee feedback, survey results, registration trends and market insights to evaluate conference performance and inform future programming and product decisions.
  • Own CPA Ontario’s speaker and subject matter expert development strategy, including identifying, evaluating, recruiting and onboarding SMEs, industry leaders, regulators, academics and practitioners, and managing all speaker-related activities such as outreach, contracting, onboarding, content development discussions, briefing calls and ongoing relationship management. Build and maintain a strategic database of speakers and industry contacts to support current and future professional development initiatives across the portfolio, and leverage research findings to extend conference content into other learning modalities including seminars, certificates, on-demand learning and future product offerings.
  • Develop conference themes, agendas, session formats, learning objectives, and content frameworks that align with member needs, emerging trends, and strategic priorities.
  • Lead the conference development process from concept through execution, partnering with Marketing, Events, Operations, Sponsorship and Product teams to launch and deliver conference programs; lead conference planning meetings, maintain planning documentation, contribute to marketing messaging and promotional content, and serve as the primary content lead throughout the conference development lifecycle.

To Be Successful You Need:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Education or a related field, along with 3+ years of experience in content development, content strategy, market research, conference programming, professional education, media, publishing or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to research emerging trends, identify market opportunities and translate insights into engaging content and learning experiences.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility and maintain relationships with subject matter experts, industry leaders and senior professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interviewing, networking, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage timelines, dependencies and competing priorities across multiple concurrent conferences and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize research, feedback and market data into actionable recommendations, combined with a self-motivated, proactive approach and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.

Salary Range

  • The starting annual salary range for this position is between 66,300 and $82,900 per annum, based on your qualifications, experience, and internal parity. Exceptions may be considered with further review.

Why Join CPA Ontario?

  • We support your well-being through industry-leading benefits, mental health resources, savings programs, and a sustainable approach to how work gets done.
  • We are committed to inclusion as a core part of how we operate, not as an afterthought.
  • We have a hybrid working environment, with three days a week on-site, complemented by 2 days of work-from-home time. We are intentional about that: the work we do benefits from being together. We want those days you work from home to be comfortable and offer a one-time bonus towards a home office when you start.
  • We invest in your growth through learning and professional development opportunities, stretch projects, secondments, and genuine paths for career progression.
  • We move quickly. The pace reflects the profession we serve; it can be demanding, but the work matters, and the team around you is invested in the same outcomes you have.

We appreciate your interest in CPA Ontario and this position

At CPA Ontario, we are committed to building high-performance teams. Our selection process is thorough, fair and run by humans. All suitable applications are reviewed by someone on our Recruitment team, and if your qualifications and experience meet the requirements of this role, we’ll be in touch. We encourage you to set up CPA Ontario job alerts for positions that align to your experience and career goals.
