The VP of Wealth Planning will lead the Wealth Planning team for Corient Canada. This individual will manage a team that supports the planning needs for the client advisory team and ultra-high-net-worth clients in Canada.
The Wealth Planning team will support the advisory team with following primary functions:
• Educating the Corient Canada client team on planning topics
• Providing technical expertise for complex client scenarios
• Completing centralized planning tasks, for example cashflow planning, will schematics, organizational charts, etc.
The successful candidate will lead this group but also work closely in conjunction with the advisory team on client subject matter.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The VP will work with the Client Leadership team to define the strategy, vision, and priorities for the Wealth Planning team.
• Set clear direction on where the group focuses its time and resources to demonstrate value and bring projects to completion.
• Manage a team of wealth planning staff responsible for deliverables as required by the client team.
• Oversee and develop the tools and resources the team requires including financial planning and other software.
• Review cash flow projections/financial plans for complex client situations, and attend client meetings where required.
• Provide financial planning and other technical expertise (in conjunction with other technical experts on the team) to the advisory team.
• Support the standardization of financial planning best practices across the Canadian advisory team.
• Support the technical development of the advisory team with training programs to raise the standard of knowledge and advice of the firm.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and events and proactively shape planning strategies and client solutions accordingly.
• Support the thought leadership of the firm by reviewing and writing technical articles and commentary (as appropriate).
RELEVANT BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
• CPA + advanced planning designation (CFP, TEP, etc.) is a requirement.
• Minimum 10 years of post-accreditation experience.
• Deep expertise in financial planning for complex situations and a strong understanding of financial planning software.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive, solutions-driven approach.
• Experience working with ultra high-net-worth clients and managing a wide range of special projects.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and lead teams across projects and initiatives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly and confidently.
• Strong project management skills, organization, and attention to detail.
• Self-starter with a high level of initiative, capable of working independently and contributing to team success.
• Ability to integrate quickly and add value in a dynamic environment.
• Hands-on approach, willing to contribute meaningfully at all levels of the organization.
• Desire to acquire unique skills and build a long-term career in the family office space.
• Commitment to continuous learning and development of specialized expertise.
• The ability to communicate in both English and French would be an asset to the team.
FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• CPA + advanced planning designation (CFP, TEP, etc.) is a requirement. Professional designations must be in good standing.
