About the Job

We are hiring a Traffic Control Manager to join our contract team.

Expected Compensation

The exact salary you will earn is dependent on the specific project to which you are assigned. Currently, the salary range for projects you may be assigned to in the position of Traffic Control Manager is 110K to 130K.

What You Will Be Doing?

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and update the Traffic and Transportation Management Plan (TTMP) and Traffic Control Plans (TCPs).
  • Review construction activities and identify traffic impacts, mitigation measures, staging requirements, and detour strategies.
  • Ensure traffic management activities comply with Project requirements, permits, municipal regulations, and applicable standards.
  • Coordinate traffic-related activities with contractors, utility companies, municipalities, transit agencies, emergency services, and adjacent stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate modifications are made to traffic management measures when operational, safety, or performance issues are identified.
  • Support the planning and delivery of public and stakeholder communications related to traffic impacts.
  • Act as the field authority for all traffic control operations and implementation of approved TCPs.
  • Direct and coordinate traffic control personnel, subcontractors, and construction teams performing work impacting traffic.
  • Oversee lane closures, road closures, detours, lane shifts, pedestrian routes, cycling routes, and transit accommodations.
  • Ensure traffic control measures are properly installed, maintained, and removed in accordance with approved plans and applicable standards.
  • Conduct regular field inspections to verify compliance with approved traffic management requirements.
  • Monitor traffic operations, queue lengths, transit performance, and construction-related traffic impacts.
  • Implement mitigation measures to address congestion, safety concerns, or operational issues.
  • Record and report lane closures, road closures, detours, lane shifts, and traffic-related disruptions.
  • Respond to traffic-related incidents arising from construction activities and coordinate corrective actions as required.
  • Document and report major incidents, traffic disruptions, and performance issues in accordance with Project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of traffic management activities and provide reports to the Contracting Authority and relevant stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the City of Toronto, TTC, Metrolinx, emergency services, utility authorities, and the Contracting Authority regarding traffic management matters.
  • Coordinate and participate in Transportation Management Committee meetings and other traffic-related meetings.
  • Provide updates on upcoming traffic activities, closures, staging changes, and operational impacts.
  • Coordinate traffic management activities with adjacent contractors and third parties working near the Project limits.
  • Provide traffic management support during active construction activities requiring traffic control measures.
  • Ensure appropriate personnel, equipment, and resources are available to respond to traffic-related issues and emergencies.
  • Be available, or designate an alternate, to respond to traffic-related issues within required Project response times.

What We Are Looking For?

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic management, transportation operations, or construction traffic coordination on infrastructure projects.
  • Experience developing and implementing Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) and Traffic and Transportation Management Plans (TTMPs).
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) Book 7, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and municipal traffic management requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with municipalities, transit agencies, emergency services, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong understanding of lane closures, detours, traffic staging, incident management, and construction traffic operations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
