Job Summary

As Coordinator, Jewish Heritage and Spiritual Programming, this role is responsible with planning, coordinating, and delivering Jewish heritage and spiritual programs in collaboration with the Heritage and Spiritual Care team. The coordinator also partners closely with Therapeutic Recreation, Culture & Arts, and other campus stakeholders to align programming with resident, patient, and client needs. Responsibilities include coordinating schedules, securing appropriate spaces, organizing materials, and facilitating participation to ensure programs are delivered effectively, safely, and accessibly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support programming and events such as space, resources and volunteers, including run-of-show notes, set-up/tear-down checklists, room/AV requirements, supply lists, vendor/contact lists, and standard operating procedures for reoccurring activities and special events. Reoccurring events includes but is not limited to weekly Saturday synagogue services, Community Shabbat, religious services for Jewish and non-Jewish holidays, Passover seders, and annual ceremonies such as Remembrance Day, Yom HaZikaron, and Yom HaShoah
  • Manage and maintain operations of the department’s calendar about holidays, special events or programming including anticipating upcoming programs or initiatives for the team, and updating key information on electronic and physical bulletin boards
  • Provide opportunities for staff to learn about Jewish culture and religion through coordinating hands-on programming opportunities
  • Support the development and/or adaptation of materials, including but not limited to booklets, brochures, and presentations, to deliver to staff, residents, patients, and clients within the scope of heritage and spiritual care, including for holidays and events
  • Own the inventory lifecycle for program supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Monitor stock levels and usage and maintain an inventory system with routine checks, and coordinate timely purchasing/reordering
  • Maintain partnerships with Jewish, non-denominational, and multi-faith organizations, such as community centres, synagogues, schools, etc.
  • Design and coordinate intergenerational programs and activities in consultation with the Director, Heritage and Spiritual Care and external partners
  • Coordinates inter and cross-departmental collaboration on events and ceremonies to ensure logistical and operational feasibility
  • Develop physical and digital communication and promotional materials related to programming and events, and serve as the primary liaison between the department and the Communications Department
  • Serve and manage the logistics an on-site execution for events and ceremonies and troubleshoot as needed
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Department to support recruitment of interested and suitable volunteers, and orient them to the department’s operations and expectations
  • Comply with health & safety requirements
  • Perform cross-functional and other duties, as assigned and/or required

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education from an accredited institution in a related field, such as Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Leisure Sciences, Religious Studies is required
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in coordinating programs and/or events related to Spiritual Care, Jewish Culture, and/or Heritage
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience designing promotional materials such as flyers, brochures or advertisements
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Excellent multitasking, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate, well-organized event materials and documents
  • Ability to take initiative in identifying problems and devising solutions
  • Maintains a high degree of organization and attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, holidays, and commemorative days, with experience understanding individuals across diverse Jewish identities, cultural backgrounds, and levels of observance, and an understanding of Jewish ritual objects and the Jewish calendar
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, and excellent Internet knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Canva, or similar software for the purposes of designing promotional and educational materials
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends, holidays, or evenings, as required

Compensation

Our salary ranges are structured to support progression, from learning the role to demonstrating full proficiency.

The salary range for this position is $58,386 to $72,983 per year.

Your placement within the target hiring range will depend on your job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and relevant education and experience, as well as considerations such as market conditions and internal equity. The starting salary will be determined using these factors to ensure fairness and consistency across the organization.
