We are hiring a Manager and Team Lead Third Party Residential Underwriting-NBBP!Reporting To:Assistant Vice President Third Party Residential Underwriting-NBBP Full-Time/Part- Time:Full TimePosting Date:July 16 2026Closing Date:July 31 2026Salary Range:$85000-$115000Hours of Work:8:30 a.m. 5:00 :Office Location: 16.7Toronto ONWhat we offer:Highly competitive compensation package which includes base salary bonus benefits and career advancement opportunities! *Eligibility for benefits is dependent on the terms of employmentThe Opportunity: The Third Party Residential Underwriting Division as a Division of First National Financial provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the Canadian Mortgage Broker to the Assistant Vice President Third Party Residential Underwriting-NBBP the Manager manages a team of Mortgage Underwriters Associate Mortgage Underwriters and Mortgage Funders in meeting the goals of the Third-Party Residential Underwriting Division. Under their guidance and leadership the team is responsible for the assessment of mortgage applications in making lending decisions in adherence with the established mortgage underwriting policies and guidelines. The team also has responsibility for reviewing required documentation for accuracy and completion and for closing and advancing funds on approved mortgage applications while maintaining a consistent focus on service excellence. How you will contribute: Establishes and maintains positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to the CompanyMaintains positive relationships with external partners such as mortgage insurers appraisers title insurance companies and solicitorsGenerates new business opportunities through existing referral sources to help achieve company sales targetsMakes lending decisions within established limits while ensuring adherence to policies and guidelinesCompletes management reporting as requiredStays current with latest industry knowledge competition and market trends Manages the capacity of the team through efficient delegation of work and careful monitoring of volumes within the workflowManages the performance of team members through ongoing feedback and coachingEstablishes performance and work standardsRecruits interviews hires and on boards new employees as requiredProvides coaching training support and development to team membersLeads team meetingsConducts annual performance reviewsAdheres to policies/procedures to ensure AML requirements are met when applicableIn accordance with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) if a successful candidate is not already licensed upon starting with First National they will be registered for the applicable educational courses and upon successful completion of the exam First National will register them with FSRA to complete the licensing experience you need: Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferred3-5 years previous mortgage underwriting experience required2 or more years people management experienceCompletion of Mortgage Agent Course Demonstrated ability to:Analyze information and make confident decisionsBuild client/customer relationshipsCreate a team environmentGive constructive feedbackLead and motivate othersSet and communicate goalsPeople management skills- coaching feedback development of individuals and teamsAbility to build and maintain positive relationshipsStrong aptitude for service excellenceAbility to manage and resolve conflictStrong communication skills both written and verbalFluency in written and spoken English is requiredStrong analytical skillsOrganizational and time management skillsPositive team player with desire and ability to mentor othersEffective problem solving and decision-making skills Fully competent in working with basic pc software and working knowledge of the suite of Microsoft Office productsAbility to manage pressure in an environment of high volume processing with tight turnaround timesWorking Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:Office environmentPeriods of high volume with tight timelinesLong periods of stationary position/sittingProlonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)Long periods of time in viewing a computer screenMulti-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer join First NationalCompetitive Compensation Comprehensive benefits program (i.e. Health Spending Account Maternity and Parental Leave Top Up)Extensive training programs to set our employees up for success Modern office environment conducive to collaborationSupportive teamwork culture Opportunities to give back to the communities and work through events focused on a variety of charities Ongoing social events throughout the year The team youll join: Founded in 1988 First National is one of Canadas largest non-bank lenders.
