The Company Globe 24-7 is partnering with a mining client in Dubreuilville, ON, to hire an experienced underground mine technician for an exciting Drill & Blast Planner opportunity.
Position Overview Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the successful candidate will support underground drill and blast planning activities while working closely with the technical services and operations teams.
The Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare underground drill and blast packages for longhole stoping activities.
- Reconcile drilling, blasting, and mucking performance against Cavity Monitoring Survey (CMS) results.
- Coordinate stope planning discussions with representatives from Ground Control, Geology, Operations, and other technical groups as required.
- Assist in the preparation of short-range mine plans, production schedules, and operational forecasts.
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of drill and blast planning standards and procedures.
- Monitor daily drilling performance indicators, collaborate with operations to resolve issues, and help ensure execution aligns with plan.
- Complete routine drillhole gyro surveys to confirm drilling accuracy and alignment.
- Conduct underground field inspections of active and upcoming drill and blast locations.
- Coach and support new Drill & Blast Planners during onboarding and training.
- Provide backup support for short-term planning functions when required.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned to meet operational and business requirements.
Qualifications- Diploma in Mine Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
- Five years or more of underground mining experience.
- Practical experience with underground narrow vein and longhole mining methods.
- Strong technical background in underground mine operations, including CAD drafting, drill and blast planning, and production support.
- Solid understanding of underground development and production drilling and blasting practices.
- Self-motivated individual with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to safe and responsible mining practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with mine planning and design software such as Deswik, AutoCAD, and Promine is considered an asset.
- Willingness to work a camp-based rotational schedule.
The Environment
This is an onsite Fly-in/Fly-out position offered with a 7x7 or 14x14 rotating schedule. Team member flights will be provided from Toronto, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, or Rouyn-Noranda. Accommodations are provided while onsite.
The Rewards
The position offers a competitive remuneration package, including a base salary range of $80,000-$125,000/yr, STIP, Travel Allowances, Benefits and more.
