Job description

Position: Senior Software Developer (.NET)
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 days remote) Office: 277 Front Street West
Duration: 132 Business Days (with possible extension)

Job Description:

Must Have:
  • 10+ years of experience developing and implementing enterprise applications using Microsoft technologies
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud IaaS and PaaS platforms including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing event-driven microservices architectures processing near real-time data
  • Extensive experience developing applications using C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Forms, .NET Framework, .NET Core, Web API/REST, WCF/SOAP, SQL Server, LINQ, and Entity Framework
  • Strong SQL development skills with experience writing complex SQL queries and database optimization
  • Experience developing front-end applications using HTML5, JavaScript (ES6), React, Redux, CSS, and REST APIs
  • Experience with DevOps tools including GitHub, Jenkins, and JIRA
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
  • Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience working with Agile software development methodologies
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
  • Public sector experience

Skills and Competencies:

Software Development:
  • Extensive experience developing enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core, .NET Framework, Web API, WCF/SOAP, Entity Framework, LINQ, SQL Server, Java, JSP, and JSTL
  • Strong experience building scalable enterprise solutions supporting mission-critical business operations
  • Experience with application architecture, system integration, and enterprise solution design

Cloud & Microservices:
  • Strong experience with Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud platforms (IaaS & PaaS)
  • Experience designing and implementing event-driven microservices architectures for near real-time processing
  • Knowledge of RabbitMQ, Redis, MongoDB, CQRS, EventStore, and distributed application design

Front-End Development:
  • Experience with HTML5, JavaScript (ES6), React, Redux, CSS preprocessors, and RESTful API integration
  • Node.Js experience considered an asset
  • Experience developing responsive, modern web applications

DevOps & Containers:
  • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenStack
  • Knowledge of source control, automated deployments, and Agile DevOps practices

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with SignalR and real-time communication technologies
  • Knowledge of CQRS, EventStore, and Microservices architecture patterns
  • Familiarity with Metrolinx or transportation systems and real-time transit applications
  • Knowledge of Ontario public sector legislation and enterprise architecture practices
