Director of Business Development - Commercial Construction

Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Business Development you will provide strategic commercial leadership while driving national revenue growth developing client relationships and building a high-performing sales organization.
Revenue Growth & Sales Strategy
Develop and execute the organizations national revenue growth strategy while identifying opportunities to expand market share.
Own sales forecasting pipeline management and overall revenue performance to achieve ambitious growth objectives.
Establish sales processes performance metrics and accountability measures that improve sales effectiveness and conversion rates.
Evaluate business opportunities with a strong focus on profitability long-term value and strategic alignment.
Business Development & Client Relationships
Lead the pursuit and successful closing of complex high-value commercial opportunities across Canada.
Build trusted relationships with executive-level stakeholders and guide clients through sophisticated consultative sales processes.
Negotiate commercial agreements while ensuring solutions align with client needs and organizational capabilities.
Strengthen the companys market presence by developing long-term partnerships with key customers and industry stakeholders.
Sales Leadership & Team Development
Lead mentor and develop a high-performing business development team.
Foster a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement across the sales organization.
Coach team members on opportunity strategy client engagement negotiations and closing techniques.
Drive consistent sales execution through performance management and ongoing development.
Executive Leadership
Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and strategic partner to the Managing Director.
Contribute to business planning growth initiatives and organizational development.
Provide commercial leadership across the business while helping shape operational priorities and long-term strategy.
Act as a trusted advisor on market positioning growth opportunities and strategic decision-making.
Commercial & Operational Collaboration
Partner closely with operations design and project delivery teams to ensure successful project execution.
Maintain a strong understanding of project profitability risk management and scope control throughout the sales process.
Ensure effective communication between commercial and operational teams to support outstanding client outcomes.
Balance revenue generation with disciplined commercial decision-making to support sustainable business growth.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate:
Education & Experience
10 years of progressive business development sales leadership or commercial management experience within construction design-build engineering consulting professional services or other project-based industries.
Demonstrated success leading revenue growth and developing high-performing sales teams.
Proven track record of closing complex consultative high-value opportunities.
Experience working with executive-level stakeholders and decision-makers.
Previous experience scaling a business business unit or sales function is highly desirable.
Entrepreneurial business ownership or general management experience is considered an asset.
Construction commercial interiors or design-build industry experience is beneficial but not required.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of strategic sales management forecasting and pipeline development.
Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements.
Sound knowledge of profitability analysis business operations and commercial risk management.
Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales performance reporting tools.

Compensation
A competitive executive compensation package will be offered including a base salary of $150000$175000 plus a performance-based bonus.
Location
This position is based in the Greater Toronto Area and supports a national portfolio. Travel throughout Canada will be required.
