About the Position

  • Department: Nuclear Equipment Solutions (NES)
  • Location: 800 Kipling Avenue, Toronto, ON - On-site
  • Term Length: 4 or 8 months
  • Discipline(s) Required: Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Year of Study: 2nd or 3rd year
  • Salary: The hourly rate for this position is $20.78-$25.67 per hour. Please note, the salary information provided is intended to be used as a guideline. Final rate offered will vary upon candidate’s prior co-op/work experience, years of study completed, relevant skills, as well as internal equity considerations.

How You Will Make an Impact

This opportunity involves responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Assist in PCB layout and schematic capture.
  • Perform lab and field tests using predominantly standard techniques; provide support in laboratory or field environments by conducting experiments, conducting tests or servicing equipment; quality control.
  • Assist with and sometimes design, assemble and maintain equipment, processes, systems and development of test methods.
  • Participate in the analysis of test results and data by use of standard software packages.
  • Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
  • Perform routine processes and duties such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, housekeeping, etc.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Currently enrolled full-time in a 2nd or 3rd year Electronics Engineering Technology program, requiring a co-op placement.
  • Familiar with using electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of soldering, wiring, PCB assembly, and basic mechanical assembly through academic labs and projects.
  • Familiar with analog electronics, including power supplies, PLC/PID controllers, signal conditioners, and logic control circuits.
  • Basic knowledge of PCB design software such as Altium Designer and OrCAD.
  • Understanding of circuit testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and functional testing of electronic circuits and PCBs.
  • Experience performing laboratory experiments, testing electronic circuits, collecting data, and documenting results.
  • Committed to following laboratory safety procedures and engineering best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
