Through our robust product engineering, outstanding tooling capabilities and diverse process expertise, we continue to bring lightweight and innovative products to market.Job Responsibilities:POSITION SUMMARY:Champions continuous improvement initiatives such cycle time, scrap, downtime and manpower reduction through welding, assembly, hot & cold stamping during the manufacturing of steel and aluminum assemblies. Champion the design, build, and development of assembly processes and tooling required. Manage launch activities, engineering changes and VAVE activities. Support quality fast response meetings and trouble shoot production issues on the line. Be able to update and create PFMEA’s, process flows, work instructions and understand the product GD&T.Salary Range: $92,000 - $102,000MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial EngineeringMinimum Five (5) years related experience within an automotive assembly or similar manufacturing industryAble to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCADExperience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, NX, Catia, Solidworks) is required.Experience in project management and cost/quote development is an asset.Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, and DOEKnowledge of MIG and spot welding steel and aluminum an assetGood organizational, verbal and written communication skillsAppropriate presentation skills for customer interfaceAbility to work in a fast paced environmentDemonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environmentAbility to work overtime to meet customer needsJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Handles medium size projects from inception to completion with moderate follow-up by leadership. Timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off (PPAP and run at rate), prototype programs, and engineering changes.Conducts appropriate Manpower efficiency studies – through time and motion studies or standard data. Line balancing manpower, machine charts and analysisPrepare reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projectsWorks with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety and maintenance related issuesIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facilityAssists in developing material handling logistics (i.e. - Aisle layout, bin placement, dunnage assists, etc.)Follow-up of new tooling programs to contain costs, timing and quality requirements through all phases including prototype, die construction, tool prove out, buy-off and program launch.Supervises equipment relocation and installation to Karmax.Assists in resolving quality concerns and identifying root cause.Reviews, co-ordinates and implements customer initiated approved engineering changes.Develop and update 2D AutoCAD layouts to support factory planning and project execution.Utilize PLC programming knowledge to configure, modify, and optimize automated equipment controls and processes.Supports our new business quoting process.Adheres to Karmax’s Core Values: Integrity, Respect, Trust, Honesty, Fairness and Loyalty.Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001).Understands, promotes and lives by Magna’s philosophies and the Employee’s Charter.Performs other duties as required.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESWork with minimal supervision.Ensure that he/she is in full compliance of the laws of Ontario and/or any other location while representing Karmax during the use of any Karmax provided equipment.Work within the guidelines of the Karmax handbook.Commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety.IATF16949 and ISO14001 awareness and adherence.Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safely in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines.Responsible for good housekeeping in your areaWORK ENVIRONMENTMust be able to travel internationally on occasion for customer related concerns or launch activity.Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing PlantMust be able to work outside of normal office hours to meet needs of assigned departments of responsibility with a Minimum amount of SupervisionLifting up to 20 kgsExposed periodically to elements such as temperature and noiseOffice environment within a manufacturing operationWHAT WE OFFERA great work experience with a diverse and dedicated workforceA strong focus on safety and health and wellness (fitness membership discounts, subsidized cafeteria, and year-round access to a private park)Six (6) paid personal daysSeven (7) paid sick/emergency daysThree (3) paid family emergency daysCompetitive extended health benefitsGroup RRSP matching programProfit Sharing PlanTeam appreciation lunches and eventsEducation Reimbursement ProgramContinuous Improvement and Development CultureAwareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
