Putting people first, every day

BDO is a firm built on a foundation of positive relationships with our people and our clients. Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters a people-first culture with a high priority on your personal and professional growth.

Your Opportunity

BDO Canada provides a comprehensive suite of services to support Financial Leaders across Canada. As a Senior Consultant within our growing Finance Effectiveness & Transformation practice, you will have the unique opportunity to join at the ground level of an exciting and evolving team. This is more than a consulting role. It's a chance to help shape a new practice, influence how we deliver value to clients, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that address some of the most pressing challenges facing finance organizations today.

As an integrator of corporate governance, process transformation, performance management, technology implementation, and business strategy, you will work directly with finance executives to optimize shareholder value and transform the finance function. For professionals looking to take the next step in their career, this role offers unparalleled exposure, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

To be successful, you will:

  • Collaborate with high-performing teams to analyze complex client challenges, interview key stakeholders, and develop actionable insights.
  • Develop compelling recommendations, business cases, and executive-level presentations that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to the growth and success of a newly established practice by supporting the delivery of transformative client engagements across finance process design, operating model transformation, technology implementation, and enterprise performance management.
  • Identify root causes of business challenges, define opportunities for improvement, and develop practical, value-driven solutions.
  • Manage competing priorities while contributing to project planning, status reporting, and successful client outcomes.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and team members while gaining exposure to a broad range of industries, organizations, and transformation initiatives.

How do we define success for your role?

  • You demonstrate BDO’s core values through all aspects of your work, including integrity, respect, and collaboration.
  • You bring a strong understanding of BDO’s Finance Effectiveness & Transformation practice and contribute to the continued development of our tools, methodologies, and market-facing offerings.
  • You take ownership of defined workstreams, manage competing priorities, and help drive high-quality delivery across client engagements.
  • You translate analysis, stakeholder input, and business challenges into clear insights, practical recommendations, and client-ready deliverables.
  • You build credibility with clients and internal stakeholders through strong communication, sound judgment, and consistent delivery.
  • You support project planning, status reporting, issue identification, and risk management to help ensure successful client outcomes.
  • You coach and support junior team members by providing guidance, reviewing work products, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • You continue to grow your expertise in finance transformation, operating model design, technology enablement, and performance improvement.

Your Experience and Education:

  • Completed undergraduate degree with outstanding academic credentials.
  • An accounting designation (CPA) or relevant master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in finance or consulting.
  • Deep expertise in financial management disciplines, such as financial process design, budgeting and planning, financial reporting, financial performance management, analytics and data modelling, and business case development.
  • Experience with, or interest in, acquiring knowledge of systems and technologies that support the finance function, such as Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365, SAP, Oracle, Blackline, Workiva, etc.
  • Strong commitment to professional client service excellence.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions.
  • Proven analytical skills and systematic problem solving.
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Canadian travel required; occasional international travel. Candidates must be able to enter the USA to work on client assignments.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $75,000 - $113,000 annually.

Our model is a blended approach designed to support the flexible needs of our people, the firm and our clients. It’s about creating work experiences that meet everyone’s needs and providing flexibility to adjust when, where and how we work to meet the expectations of our role.

Code of Conduct:

Our Code of Conduct sets clear standards for how we conduct business. It reflects our shared values and commitments and includes guiding principles to help us make ethical decisions and maintain trust with each other, our clients, and the public.

BDO may use artificial intelligence enabled tools to support certain aspects of the recruitment process. While these tools assist our teams, our use of AI does not replace human decision making, and all employment-related outcomes are made by BDO personnel.
