Must be able to successfully complete a criminal record and vulnerable sector check

About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about creating safe, fair, and respectful workplaces? In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping and maintaining HR policies while conducting impartial and timely investigations into workplace complaints. You’ll work closely with leadership, HR colleagues, and external advisors to ensure policies align with legislation, best practices, and organizational values. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a non‑profit, faith‑based environment that prioritizes integrity, respect, and procedural fairness.

As the Human Resources Policy & Complaints Advisor, you’ll be the trusted point of contact for sensitive workplace issues, supporting employees and leaders with discretion and sound judgment. You’ll balance policy development with investigative work, helping the organization navigate complex situations while maintaining compliance and fostering a healthy workplace culture.

What’s In It for You

You’ll join a collaborative and inclusive workplace that values professional growth, mentorship, and innovation. You’ll gain exposure to complex HR issues, strengthen your investigative and policy expertise, and contribute to initiatives that protect and support employees across the organization. The culture encourages balance, learning, and working in alignment with meaningful values.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead the development, review, and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with employment standards, human rights, and health and safety legislation.
  • You’ll conduct impartial workplace investigations into complaints including harassment, discrimination, and misconduct, from intake to resolution.
  • You’ll provide guidance and subject‑matter expertise to managers and staff on policy interpretation, complaint processes, and respectful workplace practices.
  • You’ll track trends in complaints and prepare non‑identifying summary reports to inform prevention strategies.
  • You’ll support training initiatives related to workplace conduct, harassment prevention, and policy awareness.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with HR colleagues, leadership, and external advisors, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated expertise in policy development and workplace investigations
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, human rights, occupational health and safety, and HR best practices
  • Experience analyzing, researching, and implementing policies with practical application across the organization
  • Superior written communication skills, including policy drafting and investigative report writing
  • Ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and procedural fairness in sensitive situations
  • CHRP/CPHR designation or equivalent training preferred, with flexibility to support ongoing professional development

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who can navigate complex situations with fairness and discretion while helping us strengthen our HR policies. Your work will directly impact the wellbeing of our employees and the culture of our organization.”
